Apocalypse: I Can Hear the Inner Thoughts of Others

Apocalypse: I Can Hear the Inner Thoughts of Others Chapter 15

Xiao Jun turned a corner and saw the tall enclosing walls that air drop boxes often appeared near.

After circling the enclosure, he finally found the entrance gate, which was indeed the yard of some unit.

The iron gate at the entrance was closed, but the small door was open.

Since the apocalypse came at midnight, there were generally no living people left in the units.

Walking into the yard, there were still a few small cars parked inside, but they had all been flooded and were obviously no longer operational.

Xiao Jun walked around the yard but did not find an air drop box.

"Oh, there's another small door here."

Through the small door was the back yard of the unit. As soon as Xiao Jun entered, he saw a box quietly sitting right in the middle of the yard.

He had finally found it.

Xiao Jun rushed forward eagerly and opened the small lock with a gentle flick of his steel knife.

The familiar white light blocked Xiao Jun’s view again, so he could only reach inside with his hand.

A lunch box, a water jug, and...nothing else!

Dammit, it was a basic-level air drop box with only two items.

Although Xiao Jun had prepared himself mentally, he still felt somewhat disappointed. He had forgotten that in his previous life, he would have been excited for days just to find a regular air drop box.

No matter, on to the next one.

It was ten minutes until nine o'clock. If he couldn't find another box, he would have to rely on the boxes dropped from the sky.

With Xiao Jun’s high-speed movement, he would enter any yard he came across. It wasn't until the fourth yard that he finally discovered a second air drop box.

"Please, God, let me get lucky this time."

Another lunch box, a familiar item.

Finally, something different - a high-tech dagger.

Xiao Jun vaguely remembered someone saying that Wan Qianya's weapon in her previous life was a dagger.

At the time, not knowing she was female, he had wondered why one of the top ten masters would use a dagger for sneak attacks.

Xiao Jun didn't think that way anymore. As a female, especially a dancer, the agile dagger suited her far better.

He was also glad it was a dagger, only about ten pounds, unlike his sixty-pound steel knife which would have been too heavy to carry anymore.

After feeling the two items, the white light still hadn't disappeared. Xiao Jun instantly perked up.

Even this pure-blooded African got crazy lucky this time, though he didn't dare wish for it to be an ultra-rare drop box.

Indeed, that had been wishful thinking on Xiao Jun’s part. His luck wasn’t that outrageous.

But it seemed the goddess of fortune truly favored him this time. The third item turned out to be a spatial equipment pendant.

Spatial equipment came in different shapes indicating different capacities.

Rings held the least at 500 kg, while pendants held 1,000 kg.

There were even larger ones, like bracelets that could hold a whopping 5,000 kg.

In his previous life, Xiao Jun had even heard that Future City’s lord had a spatial knapsack rumored to hold 100,000 kg.

That was the largest capacity spatial equipment discovered by mankind in the six years since the apocalypse.

Xiao Jun put the pendant around his neck and it instantly disappeared, replaced by a faint line drawn across his skin.

With this thousand-kilogram capacity pendant, Xiao Jun could carry much more.

In addition to the pendant, Xiao Jun retrieved a steel knife. The final item was something new - a high-tech lighting lamp.

"A truly solar-powered lamp. Fully charged, it can be used continuously for half a month."

Meaning as long as it didn't rain for half a month straight, it wouldn't go out.

And it charged quickly, reaching full in about an hour.

The switch was on the back. It seemed wax candles were no longer needed in the future, unless a certain mood was desired...

When Xiao Jun put away the last item, it turned nine o’clock.

Just like yesterday, small cracks appeared across the sky followed by a downpour of supply boxes.

Unfortunately, there was no visible way to discern box quality from the outside. You had to open it to find out.

The five minutes passed quickly. Xiao Jun ran wildly in the direction where he saw more boxes land.

Now, time was money.

With that last wave, countless people surely saw and would be searching out of curiosity. As soon as someone found something good, word would spread fast. Trying to collect boxes after that would mean having to steal them.

En route, Xiao Jun continued choosing not to disturb the zombies. Plus, he had already spotted some humans emerging from buildings.

Most of them had come out after seeing the supply boxes - they were his competitors.

Having accurately gauged the location, Xiao Jun quickly discovered a box, while another group of humans arrived at the same time...

It was a high-end small district filled with villas.

Districts like these generally couldn't survive the first three days - being too wealthy wasn't good in the apocalypse.

While Xiao Jun cleared zombies on his side, the other group swiftly did the same, their skills and coordination clearly indicating it wasn't their first time killing zombies.

【Is this guy a monster? The seven of us can't match his zombie kill speed.】

【Those two blades of his are so fierce, it'd be great if we could grab them later.】

【Just a punk kid. We'll trick him later and find a chance to take him out.】

Voices echoed in Xiao Jun's mind. He hadn't even considered murder yet the other side already harbored killing intent - how interesting.

Xiao Jun intentionally slowed down on the last two zombies to make the other group wait a while.

Under Xiao Jun’s control, the two groups arrived at the drop box simultaneously.

"Young brother, I see you're quite capable. Why not join our team? The world's become a freak show now. We humans should unite."

【First appease him, then take him out later. This young guy is too formidable. If he becomes our boss’ replacement, my position won't be safe.】

So this was the adult world? Sweet words hiding murderous thoughts - they played it so naturally.

"I'm taking this box. Any objections?"

The man's expression froze in embarrassment. Here he was talking up a storm yet the kid didn't even listen, only caring about the box.

"Little brother, that's not right. We discovered the box together and I have seven men here."

A blade flashed.

"Now you only have six men. The box is mine. Any objections?"

"You...actually killed someone. We're both human. Rather than helping each other, you chose to kill your own kind. You..."

This voice, wasn't it the one who called him a brat earlier?

"Now you only have five men left. Any more objections?"

The remaining five looked at each other in shock then fled desperately for the exit. A madman who killed two people with barely a word.

Watching them run off, Xiao Jun put away his blade. Things could have been settled peacefully if not for them forcing his hand.
