Situ Nan was clever and did not reveal his identity as Situ Jiajia's uncle. He quickly dialed Situ Jiayang's number.
The enforcers were not fools; they could easily check the phone number to find out who it belonged to. However, when they saw the words "Unable to Query" on their computer screens, they were left bewildered. Their clearance level was not high enough.
How could the phone number of the younger brother of the former commander of the Advance Guard be so easily accessible?
The enforcers began to realize that the girl might be telling the truth; her identity was indeed extraordinary.
"Damn you, Su Ze!" Situ Jiayang roared in fury, kicking the coffee table across the room, causing a loud crash in the living room.
It was his idea to send his daughter to test Su Ze, but never did he expect that this test would land his daughter in trouble!
In situations like this, if you're not willing, just reject them. Why file a report? People in this line of work already face significant risks, and earning a living is hard...
What am I even thinking? Jiajia isn't in that industry, and she certainly wouldn't be involved with... whatever that was! She was just testing him!
Shaking off these random thoughts, he began to worry again.
How should he get his daughter out of this mess? If he intervened personally, the commander of the enforcers would inevitably become aware of the situation. Knowing that his daughter had gone to see... whoever that was, and revealing the truth about Uesugi Akizuki and Su Ze, he could foresee that the commander would be jealous and try to obstruct.
After all, this was about resources among various organizations.
Moreover, Uesugi Akizuki had also mentioned that he didn't want others to know.
But outsiders couldn't interfere with the affairs of the Huaxia Organization!
Recently, the enforcers in Huaxia had captured many foreign operatives and had most of their personnel reassigned to guard the spatial gate. They were overworked and short-handed. Plus, querying Jiajia's information required approval from his side. As long as he obstructed the process, it would take at least a few days before any decision was made about Jiajia.
So, how to save her... bribery... or a jailbreak.
But that would take some time. He could only let his daughter stay inside for a few days. He would just need to arrange for her to take a leave of absence for the start of the semester.
With a plan in mind, Situ Jiayang gradually calmed down. He picked up a glass from the floor, but suddenly, rage took over again, and he smashed it to the ground, "Damn you, Su Ze!"
Lying in bed, playing with his phone, Su Ze felt a chill run down his spine and shivered. "I have a feeling someone's plotting against me."
Next to him, a crimson-haired little witch with her arms around his waist was drowsily yawning.
"Tired?"
Uesugi Akizuki nestled against his waist, a bit dazed and drowsy, nodding slightly but then shaking her head. She didn't want to interrupt whatever Su Ze was doing, but she was also afraid that he might leave again, so she forced herself to stay awake.
"Go to sleep."
Su Ze turned off his phone, then the lights, and tucked himself further under the covers, offering his hand for her to hold.
In the dimly lit room, the little sleepyhead moved away from his embrace, turned on her side, and gently clasped Su Ze's large hand with her delicate white fingers. Her amber eyes, struggling to stay open, gradually began to droop, entering a state akin to light sleep.
Until, in the quiet, dark room, she felt Su Ze's breathing become steady and even.
After waiting for another ten minutes, certain that Su Ze was truly asleep, she gently shifted her body, leaning closer to him, wrapping his hand in her arms, and then closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep.
The next day, Su Ze felt as if his waist was next to a blazing furnace. He shifted his body, moving away from the warm Uesugi Akizuki.
As soon as he withdrew his hand, Uesugi Akizuki, being very sensitive, woke up immediately.
Her amber eyes were slightly dazed from just waking up, but soon, a hint of panic filled her gaze.
"Is there no trust between us anymore?" Su Ze said in exasperation. "I told you I wouldn't leave you. If you keep doubting me like this, I might just... starve myself to death!"
Su Ze threatened fiercely, and the little sleepyhead was indeed scared. She nodded seriously, "No doubt."
"Now, let go of my hand. I need to make breakfast and then go to the hospital," Su Ze said seriously.
The little sleepyhead hesitated for a moment but eventually let go.
Su Ze thought the little sleepyhead used to be quite cute, but now, with her constant suspicion, he found it a bit annoying.
"I said you have to listen to me."
"Now, go back to sleep. I'll make breakfast and call you later," Su Ze said before leaving. "If you don't behave, I really won't want you anymore."
The little sleepyhead immediately lay down on the bed, closing her eyes as if to say, 'I'm asleep.'
"..."
Familiar behavior.
Su Ze finally saw a glimpse of the little witch's true self in this sudden bout of paranoia.
A well-behaved little sleepyhead was a good little sleepyhead. Who would like having someone constantly questioning them by their side?
After making breakfast, Su Ze came to the bedside and pinched the little sleepyhead's cheek.
He had thought she was pretending to sleep, but surprisingly, she was actually asleep.
When she woke up, "Brush your teeth and wash your face. Time to eat."
He didn't lie to me; he really didn't leave!
The little sleepyhead's eyes sparkled with joy. She had originally intended to fake sleep, but ended up falling asleep for real. Upon waking and seeing that Su Ze was still there, she was overjoyed.
It seemed that Su Ze had no intention of abandoning her again.
The little sleepyhead obediently followed Su Ze into the bathroom.
After brushing her teeth and washing her face, Su Ze used a towel to wipe the water off her face. Then, the little sleepyhead ran to the dining table to eat breakfast.
Her suspicion of Su Ze was gradually fading, and trust was being rebuilt.
Just from the fact that Su Ze hadn't sneaked away while she was sleeping, the progress of rebuilding trust had already reached a significant milestone.
Her thought process was simple: Su Ze, family, meals, games, sleep... just the ordinary things. She didn't ask for much more.
After finishing breakfast, Su Ze lit a cigarette and took the little sleepyhead to the hospital.
The surgery was successful.
Su Ze's left arm was wrapped in a cast, with bandages hanging from his neck. "Right? My hand is recovering."
The little sleepyhead nodded happily.
Trust rebuild progress: 99%!
Of course, that last bit would never be fully restored, because Su Ze had lied. Even if the little sleepyhead was naive, she knew that Su Ze had once abandoned her.
Whether she was amnesiac or had regained her memories, the difference wasn't too significant. The little sleepyhead's trust was easy to gain, after all, she was the kind of person who could be brought home with just a word from Su Ze.
The next day was the start of the semester at Huaxia University. Su Ze took the little sleepyhead shopping to buy the necessary items for school.
There wasn't much to buy, though, since Huaxia University, being a top institution, already provided students with all the necessary living supplies in their dorms.
Items like toothpaste and other consumables could be replenished with just a phone call, and drones would deliver them.
This was something Su Ze had heard from Meng Xingyao.
She also mentioned that the dorms were either single rooms or couple rooms, with decor comparable to a five-star hotel.
Su Ze bought the little sleepyhead a few dresses, not just her usual witch outfit, but also JK outfits, knee-high socks, and long dresses. The little sleepyhead's eyes sparkled with delight.
These items were all sent by drone to Su Ze's villa.
Apart from that, there wasn't much else to prepare.
