The lights in operating room number two stayed on until dawn.
According to Lu Yuan's clinic's usual practice, today was supposed to be a day off.
But early in the morning, Liu Yuan bought some breakfast yawning while wearing battle clothes for Warriors and came back to sit in the clinic's lobby, bored and spacing out.
She had received notice from Lu Yuan that today they were going to have...a team building activity.
In Lu Yuan's words, even though there were only two staff members at this clinic, they still needed to cultivate an enterprise culture.
However, the little nurse gradually realized that her boss didn't seem to be very supportive of his own decision.
At seven in the morning, Liu Yuan was sitting in the lobby.
At nine, she was still sitting in the lobby.
There was no sign of Lu Yuan.
In between, Liu Yuan went to check the freezer two times. The lights in operating room number two were still on, and there was still a "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging there.
Liu Yuan wasn't allowed to enter operating room number two to begin with. That sign hanging there meant that even if Lu Yuan died in there and started to stink, Liu Yuan still couldn't go in to collect the corpse.
So the little nurse could only continue sitting in the lobby and wait.
At ten, someone finally came.
But it wasn't Lu Yuan, it was an old man.
The old man looked rather clever, with a Mediterranean hairstyle, wearing clothes that looked like they were made with materials from the last century, a little shabby.
Liu Yuan noticed that the old man was pulling a wooden cart that could only be seen in books. There seemed to be someone lying on the cart too.
When he got to the lobby, he put the wooden cart down and walked into the clinic lobby himself a little nervously, taking small steps.
Just as he got to the door, the old man stood at the lobby door pointing at the broken glass door that hadn't been fixed yet, looking nervous as he said to Liu Yuan in the lobby: "Young lady! I didn't do this!"
Liu Yuan went up and smiled, saying: "It's okay, you don't need to worry. Even if you did break it, we wouldn't make you pay for it!"
The old man's expression instantly changed: "What's this? Trying to trap me? I didn't do this, I didn't!"
Liu Yuan helplessly had to immediately change her words: "No, no! You really didn't do it, I saw it, I don't blame you!"
Only then did the old man's expression relax a little. He looked up at the decorations in the lobby and cautiously asked: "Young lady, is this, is this the Eastern Suburbs Medical Academy in Yun City? Is there a clinic here?"
Liu Yuan nodded: "Yes, the chief physician here is called Lu Yuan, everyone in Yun City knows him. Do you need any help?"
The old man hesitated for a moment, then slowly said: "You all, how much does it cost to install a leg?"
Liu Yuan looked at the wooden cart outside the lobby. She felt a little heartache.
She knew this old man probably couldn't afford the mechanical prosthetics here.
At that moment, Liu Yuan smiled and said: "Grandpa, we don't do mechanical prosthetics here. Why don't you go somewhere else to take a look?"
The old man didn't say anything. He just pointed at a sign on the wall of the clinic lobby that listed the services provided by the clinic.
Liu Yuan sighed silently. Without even turning her head, she knew what was written on the sign the old man was pointing at.
"I'm so sorry! I'm new here and not familiar with the clinic's services yet. I just remembered, we do provide services to install mechanical prosthetics here. Not including arms, the cheapest model should be... "
"Eighty thousand for one."
Liu Yuan's voice trailed off, and the entire lobby fell silent for a brief moment.
She saw the old man's expression seemed to be frozen in place.
One second, two seconds, three seconds...
After five seconds, the old man finally came back to his senses and asked: "How, how much?"
Liu Yuan held up a hand showing the number "eight." "Eighty thousand, for one."
Within one second, Liu Yuan saw the old man's face and neck turn entirely red.
In Lu Yuan's professional terminology, this was called vigorous hormone secretion causing capillary dilation.
"Ptooey!"
The old man spat a mouthful of yellowish-green viscous sputum onto the floor of the clinic lobby, followed by what sounded like a shrill male falsetto as if he had suffered some tremendous humiliation and indignity: "I spit on you!"
"You black-hearted clinic!"
"Even Tianyu Hospital, such a huge hospital, their cheapest prosthetic leg is only eight thousand!"
"You actually dare to charge eighty thousand!"
"You're robbing people?!"
Liu Yuan kept a smile on her face. She blinked her eyes. "Grandpa, something that costs eight thousand and something that costs eighty thousand can't be compared."
"Plus I can assure you our eighty thousand leg is definitely better than their eight hundred thousand one!"
The old man yelled angrily: "Ptooey! You take me for a fool?!"
"With such a huge hospital only charging eight thousand, I thought your small clinic would surely be cheaper, who knew..."
"You guys are the scam that fleeces people to death!"
"Scam!"
"Ptooey!"
The old man got more and more agitated. Finally he fiercely spat another mouthful onto the ground. He simply started cursing at Liu Yuan: "Heartless fox spirit!"
"I bet not only can you earn black money, hooking up with men must be a specialty of yours too!"
"Asking for eighty thousand right off the bat, with a face like yours you surely have no shortage of money, right?!"
"..."
The old man in front of her was still eloquently scolding her, seemingly with no intention of stopping.
Liu Yuan kept the smile on her face, listening carefully to every word from the old man. This was Lu Yuan's requirement for her at work.
Soon, when the old man was tired from scolding and was about to take a breath, Liu Yuan looked up into the distance and murmured: "The fog is coming up again..."
The old man completely ignored Liu Yuan's words and continued scolding: "If you get in this old man's bed, heh heh--"
"I'll definitely let you-- Ow!!"
Suddenly, it was as if the old man thought of something extremely terrifying. His whole body shuddered sharply right where he stood!
Just then, Liu Yuan still had a smile on as she said to him: "Grandpa, it looks like someone's here looking for you..."
Liu Yuan's light, floating words landed in the old man's ears like a ton of weight. The old man immediately turned around and looked into the distance!
Seeing the thick fog rising around the medical academy, without another word, the old man turned and ran out of the lobby!
In less than a minute, the old man had disappeared into the thick fog outside the medical academy, pulling his wooden cart.
Watching the direction the old man had run off to, Liu Yuan tilted her head and murmured: "So useless, not a single intact arm, leg, heart, liver, lung..."
"If only you were a little healthier, I'd have given the boss a little gift..."
"Did you get picked on?"
Suddenly, Lu Yuan's voice came from behind Liu Yuan.
The little nurse turned around, leaned forward and hugged Lu Yuan's arm. Her sweet face puckered its crimson lips in a slight pout: "No I didn't, just a dying man."
"Slap!"
Lu Yuan slapped away Liu Yuan's soft jade arms, then walked outside to the lobby, frowning slightly as he looked at the fog in the distance.
"Heehee~"
The little nurse hopped after him, clingily hugging Lu Yuan's arm again. Pointing at the rising fog, she said: "Boss look! Seems another sister is coming over!"
Lu Yuan took a deep breath. "Let's head out, we're going team building."
Liu Yuan was surprised: "Boss, not...waiting for the sister?"
"No waiting, the yin energy here is plenty already."
Liu Yuan was a little unhappy: "It's not like you can't subdue it..."
"Still no, you go start the car."
"Oh."
...
Outside the medical academy, on the road.
"Don't, don't come over! I don't know you, I don't know you!"
"I don't know you, I don't know you, you've got the wrong person!"
The old man who had just left Lu Yuan's clinic was hurriedly pulling his wooden cart forward, running awkwardly.
Mumbling to himself as he awkwardly ran.
Whether it was because he was out of strength or some other reason, the old man's forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat.
Like this, the old man tried his hardest to run forward, but the fog around him only grew denser and denser.
Suddenly, the old man saw a short figure in the thick white fog right in front of him.
Without waiting for the figure to appear, the old man seemed to have gotten ten years younger in an instant. Nimbly pulling his cart, he changed direction and continued running!
His speed was now a full double what it was before!
"I don't know you! You've got the wrong person!"
"I don't know you! You've got the wrong person!"
Gradually, the old man's words started to have a tinge of crying in them. He was both anxious and afraid.
Suddenly, a soft, cool child's voice sounded from the wooden cart behind the old man: "Mom, baby finally found you..."
"Mom, don't sleep okay..."
"Mom, who is this ugly old man..."
"Mom, baby sees..." he bullies you."
The old man tremblingly looked back, and he saw-
A little girl in a tattered princess dress, holding a broken doll.
It was a very cute little girl, but at the moment, this cute little girl was staring straight at him with eyes full of black and red tears of blood.
