4:30 AM.
The alarm clock rang on time.
Xu Mo and his group simply tidied up a bit before heading out the door.
He did not leave through the main entrance of the residential compound, but instead prepared to climb over the wall.
Because the main entrance was definitely the most heavily guarded place.
Unless he was crazy, he would not want to violently confront a bunch of cops there.
4:48 AM.
The five people came to the edge of the residential compound's surrounding wall.
The wall was quite high.
Xu Mo could climb over it, but it was questionable whether the remaining four women could.
"Can you climb over it?", Xu Mo pointed at the wall and looked towards the other four.
Li Jiaxin looked at the wall, then back at Xu Mo: "More or less, it's not too high."
Zhou Qiaoqiao, Yang Jingxuan and An Youyi practically had 'we can't do it' written on their faces, continuously shaking their heads.
Seeing this, Xu Mo also knew that climbing over such a high wall was indeed asking a bit much of the three. He quickly looked around the vicinity.
Finally, his gaze landed on two green trash cans not far away.
"Go and pull those two trash cans over, flip one over next to the wall, and lay the other one horizontally on the ground to use as a stepping stool," he said.
The three women nodded, pulling the two trash cans over and stacking them next to the wall as Xu Mo had instructed.
"Alright, that should work. Let's go," An Youyi said, a tinge of excitement and thrill detectable in her voice.
As she spoke, she placed her foot on the horizontally laid trash can first, preparing to climb over the wall.
In all her years, she had never climbed over a wall before!
She felt it would probably be quite exciting...
Seeing this, Xu Mo reached out a hand to stop her.
"Don't rush, let me take a look at the situation outside first. I suspect that sly old fox Han Fei also had people lying in ambush outside the wall. It wouldn't be fun to get halfway over only to find yourself staring down the barrel of a gun," he said.
Having said that, Xu Mo let An Youyi make way as he stepped onto the overturned trash can himself and poked his head over the wall to take a look outside.
Sure enough, Xu Mo had guessed right.
There were indeed people standing outside the wall.
At this time of night, one or two passersby on the street would still be considered normal.
But someone standing motionless in place was rather suspicious.
Who the hell had nothing better to do loitering outside a residential compound in the dead of night?
In all likelihood, it was a cop!
They would have to deal with that cop first before climbing over, otherwise getting halfway over only to find themselves facing down the cop's gun from a distance would be extremely awkward, not knowing whether to move or not.
After checking out the situation outside, Xu Mo turned around to face the four women in a crouching position atop the trash can.
As he spoke, he took out his gun and loaded it.
"There's someone at 3 o'clock, probably a cop, quite far away, maybe 20-30 meters. Can only deal with him using the gun. I'll take the shot, then climb over. You guys follow right after," he said.
Having finished speaking, he slowly straightened up, turning his body sideways.
He had never fired a real gun before, but he was pretty good with toy guns.
And his aim was superb!
At a distance of 20-30 meters, there was no way he would miss.
4:51 AM.
"Bang!"
The gunshot rang out as Xu Mo aimed at the cop's right hand.
After firing, Xu Mo stood up straight, using one hand to prop himself against the wall while the other held up the gun as he jumped over.
"Damn!" Unexpectedly taking a hit from a mystery shooter, the cop couldn't help but curse out loud.
On pure instinct, he reached for the handgun at his waist.
But having just taken a rubber bullet to his dominant shooting hand, avoiding pain was impossible.
Under such pain, he couldn't even hold up the gun steadily, let alone having any chance at hitting the fleeing Xu Mo.
So he could only fumble to grab his gun with his non-dominant left hand.
Most people are right-handed, and the left hand is nowhere near as dexterous. His actions were naturally much slower.
By the time the cop managed to pull out his gun with his left hand, before he could even raise it to take aim at Xu Mo...
"Bang bang!"
Xu Mo fired another two shots which sent the cop's gun flying out of his hands.
The cop reflexively bent down to pick up the gun.
"Don't move, kick the gun over here. Try anything else and I'll shoot you in the crotch!", Xu Mo yelled out, gun raised.
Hearing this, the cop froze briefly.
Xu Mo's gun only fired rubber bullets.
Although not packing nearly the same lethal force of real bullets, there was no avoiding pain nonetheless.
After all, rubber bullets were still way harder than eggs!
Getting shot there, the consequences were unthinkable.
If it were a real fugitive, he would rush to reclaim his weapon without hesitation, nevermind losing a nut. Heck he'd even lay down his life if it came to it!
After all, he had to live up to the uniform he wore.
But Xu Mo was no real fugitive, he was only playing make-believe!
Was it truly worth losing a ball to catch a fake fugitive...
This was something he really had to consider carefully.
And knowing Xu Mo's personality, since he already dared to threaten shooting the guy in the crotch, he would undoubtedly follow through if provoked.
There was no doubt whatsoever Xu Mo would actually open fire if the cop tried anything. The cop knew Xu Mo was not joking around with his threat.
After brief contemplation, the cop still decided to go for his gun.
Even a fake fugitive could not be let off easy!
But it was already too late by then.
While the cop was caught in indecision, Xu Mo had already charged towards him.
Before the cop could even pick his gun back up, a karate chop had already come chopping down on his neck.
The cop's body went limp as he collapsed onto the ground.
After dealing with the cop, Xu Mo glanced back over his shoulder.
Just in time to see the four women finish climbing over the wall one after another.
"They'll definitely send people chasing after us once they hear the gunshots. Let's go, quick!", Xu Mo yelled towards the women before bending down to pick up the cop's firearm, removing the clip and mag before hurrying towards a private vehicle parked at roadside.
The four women followed right on his heels, not daring to fall a single step behind.
This kind of thrilling game, it was likely the only time they'd get to experience such a thing in life. They had no intention of getting caught so early into the fun.
Reaching the vehicle, Xu Mo took out a piece of iron wire he had on him...
...
On the other side.
Hearing three consecutive gunshots, Han Fei who had been on the verge of dozing off was immediately jolted wide awake.
He quickly took out his transceiver.
"Xiao Zheng, Xiao Li, Xiao Wang, sounded like the gunshots came from your direction. Was that you guys discovering Xu Mo? Did you get him?"
This had been agreed upon beforehand.
If they saw Xu Mo, they were not to engage him directly, since they stood no chance anyway. Just open fire from afar to get it over with.
Precisely because there existed such an understanding, when Han Fei heard the gunshots his first assumption was that it had been fired by one of his own men.
Two seconds later, a reply came over Han Fei's transceiver from one of the cops.
"It wasn't me, Captain Han. I didn't see Xu Mo. The gunshot came from my right, should be from Xiao Li and Xiao Wang's side."
"Wasn't me either. Also came from my right, must've been Xiao Wang."
"Xiao Wang, was that you firing the shots?", Han Fei urgently asked.
This time, more than 10 seconds passed without any reply.
Han Fei sensed something had gone wrong.
"Leave some people to stand guard at current locations. The rest come with me, let's go take a look. Xiao Wang may be in trouble!", he said before immediately leading a squad of cops towards where the gunshots had originated from.
At the same time, he broadcasted over the transceiver again.
"All personnel guarding the exterior perimeter, converge on Xiao Wang's location now! Go and see what's going on first, we'll be there shortly!"
The cops reacted swiftly.
But no matter how fast, they still ultimately ended up too late.
By the time they arrived on scene, all they discovered was Xiao Wang lying motionless on the ground.
Along with Xiao Wang's handgun, clipless and discarded to the side.
"He can't have gone far. There's only this one road running along the exterior perimeter of the compound. Must've fled either left or right. Split up and chase!", Han Fei ordered.
