Han Fei furrowed his brow as he looked at Xu Mo.
It wasn't impossible for a police officer to rely on intuition to catch criminals, but the premise was that the criminal had to show a hint of abnormality after seeing the officer, and the officer had to be able to detect that hint of abnormality.
If the criminal behaved completely normally, then the officer wouldn't be able to rely on intuition to catch them—that just wasn't practical.
Among the people Xu Mo had arrested, a small portion had long forgotten the crimes they had committed because it had been so long ago that they couldn't recall them.
If the individuals themselves had forgotten their crimes, how could Xu Mo possibly detect any abnormality in them?
It didn't make sense!
Under such circumstances, logically, Xu Mo shouldn't have been able to rely on intuition to catch criminals, yet he had somehow managed to do so.
This left Han Fei somewhat puzzled, though it was only a mild curiosity.
After all, Xu Mo was an extraordinary person. He had accomplished countless things that seemed impossible to ordinary people, and it seemed like there was nothing he couldn't do.
So Han Fei didn't dwell on the matter too much and didn't question Xu Mo in front of the other officers.
After lunch, the officers gathered in small groups by the entrance to smoke.
"Do you think Captain Xu will go out to arrest more people this afternoon?"
"Probably not. Who's left to arrest in our jurisdiction? He already caught dozens of people this morning. I feel like he's rounded up everyone in our area who's ever broken the law. Who else is there to catch?"
"That's hard to say. Our jurisdiction has a large population. Out of so many people, only a few dozen criminals? That can't be right."
"A few dozen criminals isn't enough? We're in Ram City, not some crime-ridden place like Gotham! Where would so many criminals come from?"
"Stop talking, Captain Xu is coming over... Oh no, it looks like he's heading out again!"
The officers exchanged puzzled glances.
Seriously? He's going out again? That means he's planning to catch more people!
"Captain Xu, are you... going out to arrest more people?" one officer couldn't help but ask.
Xu Mo nodded.
Under the watchful eyes of the officers, he walked out of the police station.
Of course, he had to keep arresting people. He needed to expand the range of his criminal detection radar, and the only way to do that quickly was to catch more criminals.
Working hard now would make things easier later.
If the range of his radar became large enough, he would be able to monitor the movements of criminals from the comfort of the police station. Xu Mo was eagerly looking forward to that day.
As Xu Mo walked out, the officers exchanged glances again.
Seeing Xu Mo's confident demeanor, they knew they were in for another busy afternoon.
"Let's go back and prepare. If I'm not mistaken, we'll have work coming in soon!" Wang Dachuan said, looking at Xu Mo's retreating figure.
Li Chen stood up at that moment.
"I remember there's a fruit shop over there. I'll go buy some oranges. You all stay here and don't move."
The officers: "???"
Buying oranges is fine, but why say it like that? Trying to be our dad?
The officers immediately caught the double meaning in Li Chen's words and, without hesitation, ganged up on him for a playful beating.
Afterward, Wang Dachuan glanced at the officers who had joined him in teaching Li Chen a lesson.
"We should buy some oranges. They're refreshing and can quench thirst. Eating a segment during interrogations when your mouth gets dry is a good idea. You guys hold him down, and I'll go buy the oranges."
"Never mind, you hold him down. I'll go buy them."
"No, no, I'll go. It's my treat."
"..."
Not long after, the police station received a report.
The caller was a garbage collector who had discovered several dismembered body parts in a trash bin while clearing out a garbage station.
"Dismembered body parts?" Han Fei was stunned upon hearing the news.
Good grief, another murder case, and a dismemberment at that. The killer was probably another deranged murderer.
Murder cases happened every year, but for some reason, there had been an unusually high number of them this year.
Every murder case was a major case.
The officers' task was to apprehend the killer as quickly as possible!
After all, murderers were highly unstable and dangerous individuals. If they weren't caught quickly, there was no guarantee they wouldn't strike again.
Han Fei immediately prepared to gather the officers and head to the scene.
He went to Xu Mo's office, knocked on the door, and, receiving no response, pushed it open to find that Xu Mo wasn't there.
Just then, an officer happened to pass by, and Han Fei asked,
"Where's Captain Xu?"
"He left," the officer replied truthfully. "I saw him leave the station to make an arrest."
He went out to arrest someone again? Han Fei smiled wryly.
Xu Mo was truly dedicated. He had just brought in dozens of people that morning, and after barely resting, he was out again. Anyone who didn't know better might think he got a commission for every arrest.
Although Xu Mo, his capable right-hand man, was out on business, Han Fei didn't consider calling him back. Instead, he immediately led the officers to the scene.
The case was the top priority, and there was no time to waste. Solving it as quickly as possible was crucial. Even without Xu Mo, the case could still be handled. Han Fei was no slouch when it came to solving cases—he was quite skilled himself.
Long before Xu Mo joined the police force, Han Fei had led his team to crack numerous difficult cases.
As Han Fei led a group of officers out to investigate the case, Xu Mo returned to the station shortly afterward.
Unlike that morning, this time Xu Mo hadn't waited to fill the car with three people before bringing them back. Instead, he had only arrested one person and returned immediately.
It wasn't that his criminal detection radar had only locked onto one person, but the criminal he had caught this time was different from the dozens he had arrested that morning. This one was a murderer!
This was a fundamentally different case from the earlier arrests, so after catching him, Xu Mo didn't bother looking for others and immediately brought him back to the station.
After parking the car, Xu Mo escorted the suspect into the station.
As soon as Xu Mo walked in, an officer approached him and said,
"Captain Xu, you're back just in time. There was a report earlier—a murder case. Captain Han was looking for you, but since you weren't here, he left. Maybe you should go help him?"
"A murder case?" Xu Mo thought to himself, what a coincidence. I just caught a murderer. Could the murder case the station received be connected to this guy?
