After having lunch with Luo Shiya and taking a nap, Mo Xuan felt relieved that she was also too tired to do anything else, allowing him to finally get a good rest. It seemed like every time he shared a bed with them, he ended up completely exhausted, and moments like this, where he could simply hold Luo Shiya, were rare.
As if sensing his thoughts, Luo Shiya gently leaned closer to Mo Xuan and, with her eyes still closed, kissed his lips. Even without opening her eyes, she could clearly feel his presence.
"Awake?" Luo Shiya murmured, her eyes still shut, a lazy smile on her face. "Feels like we’re newlyweds or something…"
Mo Xuan let out a bitter laugh. The three of them might never become legally recognized as a married couple. Not hearing a response, Luo Shiya slowly opened her eyes and looked at him, playfully pinching his nose.
"Even without that piece of paper, Muqi and I are still your wives. You can’t get away from us."
Her straightforward words caught Mo Xuan off guard, but then he suddenly pulled her closer and laughed. "I’m not running away. Never will."
Silly girl, I’ll be with you in the next life too…
But as they say, good times are fleeting, and Luo Shiya had been feeling this more often lately. For instance, the knocking at the door and the incessant ringing of her phone were clear reminders.
Accompanying the noise was a text message: "Open the door, sis. I’ve brought the kids to find their dad!"
Luo Shiya: …
Really? You had to bring the kids too?
It wasn’t entirely Luo Muqi’s fault, though. She had planned to come alone, but Uncle Zheng suddenly called to inform her that Luo Wei'er and Luo Xue'er weren’t feeling well, and he couldn’t reach Mo Xuan or Luo Shiya.
Luo Muqi had no choice but to go home to check on the kids. When she arrived, the two little ones jumped off the bed, clung to her legs, and pleaded, "Mommy (Auntie), take us to find Daddy!"
She didn’t want to bring them, but their cries were simply too overwhelming. After some thought, she decided to bring them along to catch the two lovebirds who had sneaked away for some alone time.
As for how she knew where they were, well, she had access to Mo Xuan’s location tracker too…
"Shiya, did you tell Muqi where we were?"
Mo Xuan asked hurriedly as he put on his jacket. Luo Shiya knew exactly how Luo Muqi had found them, but she couldn’t say it out loud. Luo Muqi was confident that her sister would cover for her, which was why she had brought the kids directly to their doorstep.
"Yeah, I sent her a message," Luo Shiya replied with a forced smile, though her eyes were icy. "Go ahead. I’ll take a shower and join you later."
Mo Xuan nodded and quickly went to open the door. As soon as it swung open, the two little ones clung to his legs like koalas.
"Daddy~"
No matter when or where, seeing his adorable daughters always warmed Mo Xuan’s heart. Outside, Luo Muqi stood with a faint smile, her scrutinizing gaze making Mo Xuan slightly uneasy.
"Brother, we’ll settle this later…"
Luo Muqi whispered into Mo Xuan’s ear, her voice seductive yet sending a shiver down his spine.
Though she was annoyed, Luo Muqi understood her sister’s actions perfectly. After all, she had done similar things herself.
Sometimes she even wondered, if they weren’t sisters or if their relationship wasn’t as strong, their shared obsession with Mo Xuan might have led to a deadly rivalry.
After a while, Luo Shiya came out of the bedroom, her hair still damp. She glared at Luo Muqi, who simply smiled back, unfazed.
"Since you’re here, you might as well stay. There’s enough room," Luo Shiya reluctantly conceded. "But why did you have to bring the kids?"
"I didn’t want to! These two little rascals tricked me by pretending to be sick," Luo Muqi said with a bitter laugh. "You know how they are when they start crying without their daddy around…"
Thinking of Luo Wei'er and Luo Xue'er’s ear-piercing wails, Luo Shiya could only sigh in resignation.
"I wonder who they take after…" Luo Muqi glanced at the two little ones clinging to Mo Xuan. "They throw tantrums whenever they can’t see him. We weren’t like that, were we?"
Luo Shiya shot her a look. Who do you think they take after? They’re our kids!
"Daddy, let’s go out and play!"
Though the weather was a bit gloomy, they were in the Capital, close to both tourist attractions and a shopping mall with an indoor children’s play area. On their way over, Luo Wei'er and Luo Xue'er had seen the cartoon posters outside the mall. Though they couldn’t read yet, they recognized the place from their previous visits with their dad.
They knew Luo Muqi wouldn’t agree to take them there, so they waited until they saw Mo Xuan to ask.
If Mo Xuan knew their little scheme, he’d probably chuckle and think, "These two are just as cunning as their mothers!"
"I’ll take them out for a bit," Mo Xuan said, picking up his daughters. "Shiya, Muqi, you two…"
"You go ahead. Muqi and I will prepare dinner," Luo Shiya said before Luo Muqi could protest. Luo Muqi wanted to argue, but Luo Shiya kept giving her meaningful looks, so she reluctantly agreed.
Once Mo Xuan and the kids were gone, Luo Muqi finally spoke up. "Sis, why were you winking at me like that? What’s going on?"
"Oh, I’m just tired and don’t have the energy to go out, but I didn’t want you to go either."
Hearing Luo Shiya’s matter-of-fact explanation, Luo Muqi suddenly felt like it might have been better if they had just fought it out…
Mo Xuan took the kids to the mall, where the little ones spotted someone eating donuts. They tugged at his clothes and said in their sweetest voices, "Daddy, we want that."
"Alright, let’s go get some," Mo Xuan said gently, holding them in his arms. "But only one each, and don’t tell Mommy or Auntie, okay?"
After finding a dessert shop, Mo Xuan set the kids down, bought the donuts, and handed them over. The two little girls, their chubby hands clutching the treats, sat happily with their dad in the shop.
"Xiao Meng, look, isn’t that Mo Xuan?"
Mo Xuan didn’t notice, but Shangguan Meng certainly didn’t expect to run into him here! It was rare for Shangguan Meng to have a day off, and she and Huang Ya had planned to go shopping together. Mo Xuan hadn’t seen them, but Huang Ya had spotted him by chance!
Shangguan Meng stared in shock at the two little girls, whose features were strikingly similar to Mo Xuan’s.
Mo Xuan had daughters? More than one?
"Xiao Meng, maybe they’re his relatives’ kids?" Huang Ya tried to comfort her. "He does have three older sisters, right?"
"He’s not on good terms with his family. Why would he be babysitting for them?" Shangguan Meng’s voice trembled. "I guess I missed my chance with him…"
"There you go again, always jumping to conclusions!" Huang Ya was exasperated. "You’re so passive! You had so many opportunities back then, and now you’re not even going to ask for the truth?"
Shangguan Meng smiled bitterly and shook her head. She wanted to know the answer, but at the same time, she didn’t.
She hoped the kids weren’t Mo Xuan’s, so she might still have a chance. But she was also afraid they were his, which would only make her feel worse.
Her feelings for Mo Xuan weren’t as obsessive as Luo Shiya and Luo Muqi’s, nor were they filled with regret like Su Yanran’s.
Shangguan Meng’s love for Mo Xuan was simply a quiet, unspoken affection, a dream from her younger days…
