Please Call Me Ghost Catcher Chapter 32

"Misunderstanding?"

Wang Ye's face was cold as ice, his sharp gaze looking towards the burly man. A hint of danger flashed through his eyes.

"We're all here scavenging, so of course we'll try to grab anything good we come across."

"But it's obvious now that you're qualified to take that item. I admit my eyesight was lacking. Let's not make a big deal out of this. What do you say?"

The burly man grinned at Wang Ye, hands open to show he meant no harm.

"Plus, with danger lurking everywhere in these wastelands, I'll admit I'm no match for you. But I'm not so easy for you to kill instantly either. A prolonged fight would be risky for you too, right?"

The burly man's face was all smiles, but his eyes were cold and calculating.

"Heh..."

A cold smile played on Wang Ye's lips.

"Are you joking with me?"

A icy glint flashed through Wang Ye's eyes. If not for his quick reflexes just now, he would probably already be a corpse.

As he spoke, Wang Ye raised his right hand, a red glow shimmering faintly.

Through his veins it could be seen that the blood flowing in his body had accelerated in an instant.

The burly man's expression changed. Without hesitation he turned and ran towards the distance. From that brief clash just now he knew he was no match for Wang Ye.

What a shame...

The next second, a huge suction force came over him.

The burly man gritted his teeth and took out a tattered straw doll from his pocket, tossing it on the ground.

The doll moved as if alive, its eyes swiveling around eerily as it jerked clumsily. But the next second, the doll was sucked into Wang Ye's hand.

"Hehe."

The doll suddenly revealed an creepy smile, its eyes turning blood red. Then its body burned up weirdly into ashes.

The whole process took only three seconds, and the burly man had already fled far using that chance.

"As expected, scavengers who can make it this far are not so simple."

Watching the burly man's disappearing figure, Wang Ye murmured to himself. Then he returned to his mail truck and started the engine.

If he had persisted in chasing the burly man, he could have tried using the mail truck.

But the direction the burly man had fled was not on his navigation route. Wang Ye was unsure what would happen if he deviated from the route, so rather than take the risk, it was better to just head back to the city safely.

Wang Ye comforted himself inwardly.

"But...I just can't control my heart huh."

Touching the steering wheel, Wang Ye murmured to himself. Then without hesitation he turned the steering wheel and chased in the direction the burly man had fled.

The previously silent navigation started glitching.

Lights flashed nonstop.

On the screen appeared large bloody words like a blood donation drive.

"Please return to the correct route."

Wang Ye seemed not to see it and continued driving. In just over ten seconds, with the mail truck's powerful speed, he could faintly see the burly man's figure up ahead.

"I'm known for..."

"Being unforgiving."

Wang Ye murmured to himself, a glint of madness flashing through his eyes. In an instant he appeared by the burly man's side, stopping the car!

From the burly man's perspective, Wang Ye had appeared out of thin air.

His expression was filled with shock. His hand subconsciously reached into his pocket. The next second, a flash of sharp blade light. His pupils dilated wide, and he fell to the ground in despair.

The burly man's head was severed from his neck, rolling on the ground like a ball.

Wang Ye's icy gaze looked at the burly man's body as he calmly put away his flaying knife.

A line of blood similarly appeared on Wang Ye's neck.

A trickle of blood slid down his throat.

"The side effect of the flaying knife is strengthening the wielder, though just a bit lighter huh?"

Feeling his own condition, Wang Ye lightly wiped away the blood on his neck. He went over to the burly man's body and searched his chest area.

The first thing this burly man did upon seeing him was not use his abilities, but reach into his pocket.

Clearly, he felt that only the things in his pocket could save his life.

Looking at the burly man's body that was rotting from overuse of his abilities, Wang Ye emotionlessly searched the corpse.

Soon, Wang Ye's eyes lit up as he retrieved another doll.

Identical to the one the burly man had used before.

The doll was tattered all over, but had an eerie smile. Its black eyes seemed to stare at Wang Ye with life.

"Can it take attacks for its owner?"

Wang Ye satisfyingly put away the doll and searched for a while longer. After making sure he didn't miss anything, he returned to the mail truck.

By now, the navigation screen looked as if it had been soaked in blood.

The bright red words 'Please return to correct route' looked ready to seep out from the screen.

Wang Ye's brows furrowed slightly as he followed his memory to return to the original path.

The restless navigation gradually calmed down, the blood color fading away as the familiar map reappeared.

"Is it afraid I'll exploit bugs to hunt for treasure?"

"Stingy postal service."

Wang Ye couldn't help but complain. Then he focused on driving.

For the remainder of the journey, he didn't come across any more treasures. After all, the routes were fixed, so the chances of finding anything good weren't high.

Wang Ye was already very satisfied with what he had gained so far.

Looking at the increasing number of scavengers, and the city of Shangjing coming into view, encircled by thick high walls faintly glowing, a faint smile appeared on Wang Ye's lips.

He was finally back.

Parking the mail truck at the residential area entrance, Wang Ye wearily returned home.

Standing at his front door, Wang Ye's pupils contracted slightly.

On the door was a heart-shaped sticky note with neat handwriting.

"Be careful~"

Next to the words was a cute smiling face.

It must be from Zhou Han!

Wang Ye immediately thought of who left the note.

And on the ground in front of the door was an inconspicuous strand of hair.

This was a habit he had cultivated over the years.

Especially since there was now a mysterious wooden door in his living room.

Every time he went out, he would leave a strand of hair wedged in the door crack.

"Did someone go in?"

Wang Ye was silent for a few seconds before expressionlessly opening the door and entering the house.

The interior was very quiet and tidy as new.

Wang Ye showed no sign anything was amiss as he took a bottle of water from the fridge and sat down wearily on the sofa, closing his eyes.

After some time...

A figure identical to Wang Ye abruptly emerged from the shadows.

He was pale, moving his body stiffly. He slowly shuffled behind Wang Ye, his deep gaze fixed on Wang Ye's back.

Finally...

He slowly raised both arms towards Wang Ye's head.

"Couldn't resist huh?"

"At least you're quite willing to help clean my house!"

Suddenly, Wang Ye who seemed to be sleeping on the sofa sharply opened his eyes, a cold smile on his lips.

Somehow he was holding a coil of rope in his hands. It instantly came to life and flew about.
