[Task: Near and Far (2/?) - Either kill Wrath head-on or escape from the industrial park]
[Ding! Emergency task triggered: Kill Wrath 0/1]
[Task reward: 12,000 points, Mid-tier T-virus immunity capsule (6 hours) exchange permission, Mid-tier storage space exchange permission]
A series of prompts rang through Ning Yu's mind, including a long-absent emergency task notification.
She pressed her lips together and sighed helplessly, realizing her life would be in danger once again.
The Wrath let out another tremendous roar.
Its massive body charged forward, making the ground shake even more violently as it swung its fist toward the steel tower where Ning Yu was.
"Boom!"
The tower was instantly bent from a single punch, its structure twisted and dented.
Ning Yu had already leaped to the waist of another building the moment it attacked, then quickly climbed to the top.
"Bang! Bang!"
Unfortunately, this was a mid-tier mutant zombie, and its weaknesses couldn't be detected through scanning. Ning Yu could only shoot at common weak points with her handgun.
Looking at the destroyed tower, she was astounded by Wrath's terrifying destructive power.
If that hit had landed on her, Ning Yu would have been turned into mincemeat.
The bullets hitting Wrath only left holes in its grayish-white wrinkled skin, seemingly causing no damage at all.
Ning Yu felt somewhat troubled. If she still had her Crimson War Blade, she might have tried jumping onto it to stab it a couple of times.
Is there anything she could use...
Ning Yu searched around while dodging another of Wrath's punches, which sent debris flying from the building where she had been.
Thankfully, with Future Reading's enhancement, Ning Yu could perfectly avoid Wrath's attacks.
She had already foreseen that Wrath would kick something at her, so this time when dodging, she jumped toward a spot where she could use as leverage.
Sure enough, she dodged an unidentified object hurled at her and used the momentum to dodge again.
Nearby, Shen Yiyue looked back, secretly relieved to see Ning Yu was safe, and hurried toward the SUV.
Ning Yu had quickly climbed to the top of a tall cylindrical tower building, following the stairs upward.
She occasionally turned back to fire a few shots, harassing Wrath to keep its attention.
Wrath spotted her up there and roared in frustration.
It grabbed two forklifts from the industrial park, one in each hand, and spun its body like a discus thrower, hurling them at the climbing Ning Yu.
Unfortunately, its aim wasn't great - one forklift missed completely and crashed into a nearby shed, destroying it.
The other one was narrowly avoided as Ning Yu quickly jumped upward.
Seeing it had missed, Wrath became furious, pulling back its thick arm and preparing to charge.
Ning Yu wasn't worried when she saw this, instead narrowing her eyes and thinking to herself that the moment had come.
"ROAR!!!"
Wrath charged with overwhelming, unstoppable momentum directly at the tower Ning Yu was climbing, intending to knock her down.
This was exactly the angle of attack Ning Yu had wanted.
"BOOM!!"
The base of the cylindrical building was instantly destroyed, the whole structure breaking in half like a snapped Pocky stick.
The lower portion was completely pulverized.
But the upper half came straight down like a pole, perfectly aligned with Wrath's head.
Wrath realized the problem but it was falling too fast to react, forcing it to quickly raise its thick arms to try to block.
"CRASH!"
It was like a direct hit to the head, smashing down on Wrath - the bitter fruit of its own actions.
Ning Yu fell along with the upper half of the building, twisting to the side just before hitting Wrath.
She pulled out her long sword and stabbed it into Wrath's body, though it didn't penetrate deeply - she hadn't expected it to.
She continued falling under gravity's pull, but the sword carved an obvious gash in Wrath's body, the friction gradually slowing her descent.
Everything was going according to Ning Yu's calculations.
Wrath was dazed from the blow it had brought upon itself, falling backward to sit heavily on the ground.
By the time Ning Yu landed, she had slowed enough to avoid any impact damage.
Without hesitation, she took advantage of Wrath's dizziness and immediately ran.
She remembered how dangerous the last emergency task had been.
Ning Yu felt that three lives wouldn't be enough to face Wrath head-on.
Of course, if she could escape, she would - even with the 12,000 points and mid-tier item exchange permissions at stake, she could come back for them after getting stronger.
At least wait until she had developed her Crimson War Blade.
Over there, Shen Yiyue, Ji Mengyao, and Wu Di had all climbed into the SUV, with Ji Mengyao taking the driver's seat.
Not even waiting to close the doors, she quickly started the vehicle and drove toward Ning Yu.
Ning Yu noticed Ji Mengyao's action and ran quickly toward the SUV, then made a leap.
From a tricky angle, she dove directly through the window into the passenger seat, thanks to her small frame.
"Go! Quick!"
She shouted at Ji Mengyao as soon as she got in.
Ji Mengyao didn't hesitate, spinning the steering wheel to turn the SUV around in the opposite direction from where they'd picked up Ning Yu.
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"
They clearly felt the earth-shaking movement behind them - obviously Wrath had gotten up and was running after them.
"Faster, go faster."
Ning Yu watched Ji Mengyao's speed, almost wanting to grab the steering wheel herself.
Indeed, without Ning Yu's high spiritual power, Ji Mengyao's sensory acuity wasn't as good as Ning Yu's, making it impossible to maintain extremely high speeds while avoiding obstacles.
Ning Yu heard the booming getting closer and closer, even the car windows seemed to be shaking.
"No good! I need to get out and lead it away - you all go ahead!"
She made a split-second decision to jump out again.
"No, Little Yu..."
Shen Yiyue was about to stop Ning Yu's reckless behavior, but she saw Ning Yu's expression suddenly change as she looked back.
So she quickly looked back too, both their Future Reading abilities activating strongly in that moment.
Wrath was sprinting, cracking the ground with each step.
It had grabbed an enormous concrete reinforcing bar and was swinging it horizontally at the speeding SUV!
With no time to explain to Ji Mengyao, Ning Yu grabbed the steering wheel from the side and yanked it hard.
The SUV spun at an extremely bizarre angle, swerving to the side.
The steel bar whooshed past, barely missing the car!
Unfortunately, it still made contact, and the SUV immediately lost balance.
Despite being on flat ground, it was thrown into a spin by the overwhelming force as if it had rolled down a hillside, crashing and rolling at least seven or eight times.
Finally, it slammed heavily to the ground.
