Today We Set Off Fireworks

With the sound of the pickup truck's brakes, the zombies at the entrance of the food street collectively turned their heads.

They must have been hungry for a long time, as they all let out excited roars and surged forward. Ning Yu didn't count them carefully, but there were roughly twenty to thirty of them.

The last time they encountered this many zombies, Shen Yiyue could only run to the top of the car and use the terrain to handle the situation.

So how far could she go this time?

Ning Yu casually got out of the car and summoned Blood Kite to her hand. It was making low, subtle sounds, as if responding and eager to join the battle.

"Rest for now, old friend. Today is her show time."

Ning Yu climbed onto the car roof with boredom, observing Shen Yiyue as she got out of the car.

She held a long sword in her left hand and a gun in her right, fearlessly facing the approaching zombie horde as she raised her hand to shoot.

However, this also indicated that Shen Yiyue hadn't activated her Future Reading ability, and was just shooting on instinct.

Ning Yu admired Shen Yiyue's style of close combat with both sword and gun, nodding in approval. She felt she could teach her some more details about gun-kata style close combat techniques.

Shen Yiyue wielded both weapons skillfully, quickly clearing the zombies in front of her before turning to call out to Ning Yu:

"Little Yu, all done!"

Only then did Ning Yu jump down from the car. After locking it, she followed Shen Yiyue to the entrance of the food street.

"Well done."

She first praised Shen Yiyue, then added:

"But next time, no need to show off by pressing the gun against the zombie's head - just shoot them directly."

"Hehe~"

Shen Yiyue playfully stuck out her tongue, realizing Ning Yu had noticed her little flourish.

Instead of heading into the food street, Ning Yu walked to a nearby residential building, preparing to go upstairs.

Shen Yiyue felt Ning Yu's gentle touch near her ears and turned back to give her a sweet smile.

Then she turned around and began operating the weapon.

The practice warhead flew off as Shen Yiyue pulled the trigger.

A dull sound followed, without the expected explosion since it was just a practice warhead.

The zombies in the food street heard the sound and began gathering towards where the practice warhead had landed, creating quite a lively scene.

Looking at the gathering zombies, Ning Yu suddenly had an idea and said to Shen Yiyue:

"Come on, I'll let you set off some fireworks today!"

"Eh? What do you mean?"

Shen Yiyue asked curiously.

"I'll go gather them together, then you can send them all on their way with one shot."

Ning Yu explained her plan.

"Huh? We're using live ammunition so soon?"

Shen Yiyue had only just practiced briefly and wasn't feeling very confident.

"Just use your ability, what are you afraid of?"

Shen Yiyue nodded, indicating she was okay with it.

"Give me your gun. When I shoot into the air, that's your signal to fire."

As Ning Yu spoke, she exchanged a thermobaric warhead from her system inventory and handed it to Shen Yiyue.

Looking at the densely packed zombies in the food street, Ning Yu did a quick count and felt they could at least break even, maybe even make a profit.

"See that rest plaza in the middle? That's where I'll lure them."

Ning Yu pointed to a circular plaza not far from the food street entrance, which had several wooden chairs.

It looked like a place where tourists could conveniently sit and enjoy their food.

Taking the handgun from Shen Yiyue, Ning Yu jumped down from the residential building and walked into the food street.

Blood Kite in her hand was eager for action, but Ning Yu didn't engage in killing the zombies, instead letting them chase her.

She ran to the agreed-upon food plaza, standing by the central fountain, and let out a crisp whistle.

After this sound, the footsteps in the food street became more intense, with countless zombies swarming in from all directions towards the plaza.

The exploration team's intelligence proved very accurate - there were far too many zombies here, probably due to the high number of tourists present when disaster struck.

Ning Yu stood on the fountain statue, watching the mass of zombies below that could trigger anyone's claustrophobia, but didn't rush to leave.

There were still some slower, disabled zombies in the distance, struggling to catch up.

They couldn't waste this thermobaric warhead.

The zombies below had started stacking on top of each other, crowding and trampling as they tried to reach Ning Yu through their human pyramid.

Seeing the timing was right, Ning Yu leaped forcefully from the statue and ran to a nearby building, then quickly moved towards Shen Yiyue's position.

The whole process happened so fast that the zombies were still busy climbing up, not even noticing that Ning Yu had disappeared from the statue.

"Bang!"

Having reached a safe distance, Ning Yu fired a shot into the sky.

Nearby, Shen Yiyue aimed at the plaza now filled with zombies, her hands sweating nervously.

Hearing the agreed-upon gunshot, Shen Yiyue hesitated no longer and activated her Future Reading ability.

She instantly saw the scene of zombie flesh and blood flying through the air begin to play in reverse.
