The Key

As the blood-colored giant egg in the sky grew larger and larger, blotting out the heavens, Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue could clearly see something incubating inside.

The mutated zombies around them had almost completely disappeared, as nearly all of them had been transformed into flesh and blood, absorbed by the colossal egg.

Something terrifying was about to be born within it.

Was this Chen Xing's final killing move?

Suddenly, a powerful force erupted in the air, contracting toward the center of the blood-colored egg, as if forming a wormhole.

The blood-colored egg began to shrink rapidly, gradually reducing to the size of Chen Xing's original form, taking on a humanoid shape.

Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue had already regrouped. This was an unprecedented situation; in previous cycles, they had never pushed Chen Xing to this point.

They were now just a hair's breadth away from breaking this series of inevitable parallel deaths.

The flesh and blood in the sky seemed to have finally condensed, gradually forming a blood-red ring that floated in the air.

Beneath the ring, Chen Xing appeared, now hooded, her face no longer visible. Only the exposed gray skin hinted that it was still her.

The ring, which should have been the golden halo of an angel, was now forged from flesh and blood, hovering above Chen Xing's head and dripping blood continuously downward.

The blood flowed down her hooded robe, staining her entire body, and dripped onto the ground below.

Chen Xing seemed to have lost the ability to speak, her face completely gone.

A faint, eerie laughter echoed in the sky. If one listened closely, it seemed to be composed of countless voices.

Chen Xing turned her head, looking toward Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue. She raised her hand, and a sphere of blood began to coalesce in her palm.

The two of them looked at Chen Xing and noticed that beneath the hood was only endless darkness, as if all light was utterly absorbed.

Soon, the blood sphere in Chen Xing's hand took shape, but its diameter rapidly shrank inward before vanishing entirely.

Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue seemed to sense something simultaneously. Their [Future Reading] abilities began to operate frantically.

Without a word, they instantly flew hundreds of meters away.

In the spot where they had just stood, the blood sphere suddenly expanded from its tiny size, blooming outward.

Wherever the sphere reached, everything was devoured!

It expanded silently, its power horrifying. Only when the sphere reached its maximum size did it abruptly disappear.

The two of them looked closely. The place where they had been standing was now a spherical crater.

It wasn’t like the aftermath of a normal explosion; instead, everything within its range had been completely erased from existence.

Whether it was dust, plants, stones, or debris, everything was now gone.

At the edge of the spherical crater, a stone pillar had been partially devoured, leaving a smooth, curved surface.

This soundless attack was terrifying in its destructive power!

But what followed was even more chilling.

The blood-red halo above Chen Xing's head rotated, shedding more blood onto her hooded robe, which then flowed down to her hands.

She slowly raised her hand, as if releasing a dandelion, and lifted the blood sphere she had formed, letting it float into the air.

This time, the blood sphere grew larger and larger as it rose, eventually blocking out the sun entirely!

Darkness swept across the city, with only a faint red light piercing through, casting an eerie crimson glow over the land.

The sphere reached its peak height and began to rotate.

On the ground, amidst the ruins, silent explosions capable of devouring everything began to bloom like mushrooms after rain.

The entire city became pockmarked under the onslaught of these attacks.

Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue could only scramble to dodge. If they were caught by even one of these spheres, the affected part of their bodies would vanish completely.

But Chen Xing's assault didn’t end there. After sending the blood-red sun into the sky, she raised her hand high, forming it into a claw.

Then, in one swift motion, she plunged her hand into her own body, tearing herself open.

The blood-red halo above her head followed her movements as she bent forward.

From within her abdomen, she pulled out a massive sword made of flesh and blood, identical in design to her cross-shaped longsword but far larger.

The sight was horrifying. From such a small body, she had drawn a weapon two or three times her size.

Yet she held it effortlessly with one hand, swinging it to her side. Her hooded, pitch-black face turned toward Ning Yu.

Ning Yu suddenly felt a suffocating pressure, and a huge "DANGER" flashed in her mind.

Chen Xing had already moved next to Ning Yu, who was still dodging the attacks from the blood sun above. With a horizontal slash, she swung the massive sword!

Without hesitation, Ning Yu activated [Mist Walk], disappearing into a cloud of mist just as the sword was about to strike her.

To her shock, even though the sword hadn’t touched her, she could already feel the searing heat radiating from the blood on its surface, as if facing molten steel.

While traversing the mist, Ning Yu noticed she could see the spheres that fell to the ground, devouring everything.

In reality, their trajectory was invisible; one could only see them when they exploded.

If [Mist Walk] allowed her to briefly escape this dimension, then clearly, Chen Xing's attacks only returned to this dimension at the very last moment.

Ning Yu reappeared beside Shen Yiyue, pulling her away just in time to avoid being swallowed by one of the spheres.

"Xiao Yu, what do we do? Should we reset?"

Shen Yiyue was already prepared, her enchanted pistol and bullets at the ready, her hand resting on the weapon case behind her, ready to draw at any moment.

She too realized that Chen Xing, in this form, was overwhelmingly powerful.

"No, I think there might be a better way."

Ning Yu bit her lip, a bold idea forming in her mind.

"Do you trust me?"

Chen Xing had already turned her head, locating Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue. Her figure vanished into thin air.

That familiar sense of danger surged again. The [Future Reading] in their eyes began to operate once more, but now it was becoming increasingly difficult to see a way to evade Chen Xing's attacks.

"Of course I trust you, Xiao Yu."

Shen Yiyue answered without hesitation, waiting for Ning Yu's next move.

The golden vortex symbol on Ning Yu's forehead began to glow, brighter than ever before.

Her silver hair floated upward, and her amber eyes transformed into a divine, golden hue, impossible to look at directly.

In her hand, Shen Yiyue saw a key formed from gray mist.

Just Became Emperor, Already Assassinated by the Son of Destiny

e bizarre and supernatural had descended. The previous emperor was a thoroughgoing tyrant; no longer satisfied with human women, he had set his sights on a stunningly beautiful supernatural entity. He met his end in his bedchamber, drained of all his vital essence. As the legitimate eldest son and crown prince, Wang Hao was thus hastily enthroned, becoming the young emperor of the Great Zhou Dynasty. No sooner had he awakened the "Imperial Sign-In Intelligence System" than he was assassinated by a Son of Destiny—a classic villain's opening. The Great Zhou, ravaged by the former emperor's excesses, was in national decline. The great families within its borders harbored their own treacherous schemes, martial sects began to defy the imperial court's decrees, and border armies, their pay and provisions in arrears, grumbled incessantly against the central government. Fortunately, the central capital was still held secure by the half-million Imperial Guards and fifty thousand Imperial Forest Army who obeyed the court's orders, along with the royal family's hidden reserves of power, barely managing to suppress the realm. As the Great Zhou's finances worsened and supernatural activities grew ever more frequent, the court sat atop a volcano. Ambitious plotters everywhere dreamed of overthrowing the dynasty, and even some reclusive ancient powers emerged, attempting to sway the tides of the world. At the first grand court assembly, the civil and military officials nearly came to blows, fighting tooth and nail over the allocation of fifty million taels of silver from the summer tax revenues. The spectacle opened Wang Hao's eyes—the Great Zhou's bureaucracy was not only corrupt but also martially proficient, a cabinet of all-rounders. Some officials even had the audacity to suggest the emperor release funds from the imperial privy purse to address the emergency. Wang Hao suddenly felt weary. Let it all burn.
