Shen Yiyue couldn't contain her excitement as she rushed forward and embraced her sister.
Ning Yu looked carefully and noticed that despite Shen Qianqian's current disheveled state, she still bore a striking resemblance to Shen Yiyue.
Such reunions were beautiful and surprising, especially in this world overrun with monsters.
It could truly be called a miracle.
While Ning Yu felt somewhat pleased, she maintained a cold expression, observing the reunion with detachment.

Shen Qianqian pressed her small head against her sister's chest, trembling and crying, her words becoming incoherent.

The task completion notification had already appeared in Ning Yu's mind; the system had issued the task as soon as she saw that creature.
She had successfully snatched the kill from Ji Mengyao and claimed the task reward.
Though the gun wasn't from the system, the bullets were, so even though Shen Yiyue fired the shot, she still completed the task.
Nearby, Ji Mengyao got up from the ground as if nothing had happened, glancing at her broken axe.
She had no intention of retrieving it.
With the sisters caught up in their reunion, she didn't want to interrupt, so she walked over to Ning Yu instead:
"Hey, you stole my prey."
She looked somewhat annoyed as she fixed her golden hair, trying to braid it back after it had come loose during the fight.
Ning Yu observed this punk girl covered in blood with her trendy outfit, thinking she seemed quite unique.
However, she replied dismissively:
"We stepped in because you were about to die."
"You!"
Ji Mengyao's eyes widened in anger:
"That wasn't... I definitely could have killed it in just a bit more time!!"
She meant to say she could have worn it down after a few more deaths.
Ning Yu ignored her and pointed at Shen Yiyue:
"Besides, look carefully. She's the one who fired the gun. Why aren't you confronting her instead of me? Is it because I don't have a gun, so I'm easier to bully?"

Ji Mengyao was caught off guard by Ning Yu's words before she could continue her outburst. Her face turned red.
The man in the suit, seeing the situation becoming tense, quickly rushed over to smooth things over:

The suited man had just brutally exposed her true nature.
Ji Mengyao's expression soured even further as she smacked the suited man:

The man called Wu Di glanced at her without responding, instead turning to thank Ning Yu:
"We really appreciate your help back there!"
Though his expression remained blank, Ning Yu could sense the sincerity in his words.
Though she thought his name was quite presumptuous - Wu Di, meaning 'invincible'?
Ning Yu blinked her amber eyes, appearing completely unconcerned:
"It's fine, I forgive her."
Hearing this, Ji Mengyao became even more displeased:
"Who... who needs your forgiveness?"
Before she could continue, the suited man forcibly dragged her away to deal with their large box.
Ning Yu then walked over to Shen Yiyue, smiling sweetly at her sister Shen Qianqian.
Shen Yiyue came to her senses and raised her hand to introduce:
"This is your Sister Yu, she's been helping me all along!"
Shen Qianqian turned her tear-stained face to look curiously at the beautiful silver-haired girl before her.
Though not much taller than herself, she appeared more mature - somehow even more mature than her own sister.
Her Western-style dress was elegant and pristine, without a speck of dirt.
Her snow-white delicate face, small cute nose, rose-colored thin lips, and jewel-like beautiful eyes.
This big sister is so pretty....
"Hello, Sister Yu!"
She quickly greeted sweetly, and Ning Yu responded with a friendly smile, patting Shen Qianqian's head.
Shen Qianqian wanted to move away but didn't dare.
Not because she disliked Ning Yu, but because she was embarrassed about her dirty hair that hadn't been washed for days.
Meanwhile, the suited man Wu Di walked over to a little girl sitting on the ground and said:
"Little sister, you're Wang Yuan, right? Your father sent us to pick you up..."
The little girl on the ground looked up, her eyes widening with joy:

Wu Di nodded, trying his best to make his expressionless face form a gentle smile.
But he failed.
Behind him, Ji Mengyao was rummaging through the large box, pulling out something that looked like a syringe.
She took the syringe and walked straight to The Greedy One's corpse, stabbing it into its head.
Upon closer inspection, the syringe looked different from regular hospital ones, as if specially made for some purpose.
While pretending to chat with the Shen sisters, Ning Yu's eyes were actually focused on Ji Mengyao's actions.
What was she doing? Was there something special in the mutant zombie's brain?
Soon, the syringe was filled with a clear, colorless liquid - hard to believe it came from that monster's head.
She skillfully filled almost the entire syringe, stopping only when she couldn't draw any more.
Then she took out two vials and injected the liquid from the syringe into them.
Ji Mengyao cast a subtle glance at Ning Yu, who was still chatting and laughing with the Shen sisters.
Ning Yu caught it immediately.
Ji Mengyao dusted herself off and, after some hesitation, walked over with the two vials.
"Here... these are yours by right."
"Don't misunderstand! I'm not thanking you or anything!"
She turned her face away while extending the vials toward Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue.
Looking quite reluctant about it.

Shen Yiyue looked at the clear vials Ji Mengyao was offering, wisely accepting them before asking:

The punk girl heard Shen Yiyue's confusion and exclaimed in surprise:
"You don't know? Aren't you Awakened Ones?"
"Awakened... Ones?"
Shen Yiyue repeated the term with a puzzled expression - Ning Yu hadn't mentioned anything about 'Awakened Ones' to her.
"Um... you really don't know?"
Ji Mengyao's expression grew more suspicious.
Ning Yu quickly jumped in:
"We heard on the radio that there was a survivor settlement at Yida Plaza, so we came to check it out."
"Oh~ I see."
Ji Mengyao nodded in understanding.
"As for these Awakened Ones you mentioned, you mean people who gained some strange abilities, right?"
Ning Yu added, figuring that without special powers, those two shots that killed The Greedy One would be hard to explain.
"Oh yeah... well, never mind, let's get in the car and I'll explain more!"
Ji Mengyao was about to continue when she saw Wu Di in the distance had already gathered all the children together.
She simply waved her hand and pointed in a direction:
"Our car's over there, want to come along? We're all heading to the settlement anyway."
Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue exchanged glances and nodded.
