The Apocalypse: I, a Top Assassin, Became a Loli Chapter 84

Ji Mengyao drove the car to a row of tents in the plaza.

There seemed to be no other survivors there; they were the first batch of people rescued today.

After surveying the plaza, Ning Yu turned back to ask Ji Mengyao:

"How many people are living here now?"

"Almost a thousand people, but there are still many empty apartments here that can accommodate more."

Ji Mengyao stepped on the brake, and the car slowly came to a stop.

"What happens when it's full one day?"

"Then we'll just find another place and build a new base! As long as people work, they'll get food - we're not afraid of having too many people."

She adjusted her baseball cap and got out of the car first, with Ning Yu following suit.

At the back of the car, Suit Man was already standing outside, helping the children disembark.

Shen Yiyue and her sister Shen Qianqian had also walked over, standing together with Ning Yu.

"Xiao Yu, this place looks pretty decent," Shen Yiyue whispered to Ning Yu.

"Indeed, it's quite well-organized."

Ning Yu observed the expressions of the ordinary people around them - though busy and occupied, they showed no signs of tension or anxiety.

It seemed people had found something certain here - a sense of security that came from knowing they could survive through their own efforts.

In this apocalyptic world, this might as well be a paradise.

She wondered how they managed to achieve this.

She looked up at the towering apartment buildings.

Up ahead, Ji Mengyao had joined Suit Man and first went inside to speak with the staff for a few moments, then came back out and called to everyone:

"Come on! Form two lines, men on this side, women on that side, for medical examinations!"

This was to check if any of the newcomers had wounds, as zombie bites carried the risk of turning at any moment.

Ning Yu noticed the people in gray uniforms watching them with subtle glances - those must be the security team.

Each was equipped with different weapons - some carried fire axes, others held riot shields and batons.

They were clearly collected from various sources.

None of them carried guns; this country seemed to have very strict gun control, and they probably hadn't managed to find many firearms.

Ning Yu thought about the 'kind person' who had given them guns earlier.

It seemed he must have been some kind of criminal, though not a very competent one.

Shen Yiyue had also keenly noticed this and had quietly returned her gun to Ning Yu, who stored it in her system space.

The other weapons like long swords and daggers were also stored away by Ning Yu.

Now the two of them, carrying their bags, looked no different from other apocalypse wanderers except for being a bit cleaner.

Together with Shen Qianqian, they stood in the women's line, looking like an older sister with two younger ones.

The men's line only had a few young male students.

Soon after, Ji Mengyao came over and stood with Ning Yu's group, while Suit Man joined the men's line.

It seemed that all returning personnel had to undergo medical examinations without exception.

"Don't worry, your supplies are your private property - no one here will make you hand them over," Ji Mengyao leaned in to tell Ning Yu and Shen Yiyue.

"As for that gun of yours, just don't take it out carelessly, and I'll pretend I never saw it!"

She was doing them a favor.

Though Ning Yu understood this was probably a ploy to recruit them into her exploration team.

It was an obvious tactic.

But Ning Yu thought this kind of person was still better than those who would scheme against you in secret.

"Sister, do you think Mom and Dad might be here?" Shen Qianqian asked Shen Yiyue quietly, holding her hand.

Ji Mengyao overheard and patted Shen Yiyue's shoulder, saying:

"Before quarantine, you can give me your relatives' names, and I'll check the base's database for you."

Hearing this, Shen Yiyue nodded happily and thanked Ji Mengyao.

The cool girl in the baseball cap proudly rubbed her nose:

"Hehe, it's nothing!"

Hearing this, Ning Yu's mind started working:

Very clever - with zombie-powered electricity, using a computer database to manage personnel information was much more convenient than handwritten registers.

Shen Yiyue glanced at Ning Yu, knowing she probably didn't need to look for relatives.

After hearing that her sister hadn't found her and had left with bodyguards in a helicopter.

She understood that someone with such a background wouldn't need to stay in a survivor base like this.

They were probably some kind of power player in this apocalyptic world.

Why did Ning Yu show no interest in finding them? Had there been a family falling out?

Shen Yiyue stopped her wild speculation, secretly feeling somewhat glad that Ning Yu wasn't looking for her family.

At least this way, they could continue wandering the apocalyptic world together.

No, no, how could she be so selfish!

Shen Yiyue felt guilty about having such thoughts.

"Next!"

Shen Yiyue was in front, with Ning Yu and Shen Qianqian behind her. The white medical tent ahead was calling for her.

She pushed aside her wandering thoughts and quickly walked in with her bag.

"What about you? Want me to check for anyone?" Ji Mengyao asked Ning Yu.

"No need." Ning Yu waved her hand, pretending to look deeply hurt and sad.

Ji Mengyao tactfully didn't pursue the matter further, as Ning Yu had successfully led her to make some assumptions.

Soon, it was Ning Yu's turn.

When she entered the white tent, she saw Shen Yiyue waiting for her on the other side, having clearly finished her examination.

Inside the tent was only a Female Doctor in a white coat and a woman in gray clothes holding an axe, presumably there to ensure the doctor's safety.

Seeing the cute little girl who entered, the Female Doctor showed a kind smile:

"Little sister, your hair is so beautiful, is it natural?"

While speaking, she began checking Ning Yu for wounds, and Ning Yu cooperated fully with the examination.

"This is...?" The Female Doctor inquired with concern upon seeing the recently healed knife wound on Ning Yu's arm, clearly not a zombie bite.

"Oh, I accidentally cut myself, but it's fine now!"

That was the wound from when Ning Yu had fed blood to the broken Crimson War Blade.

Her healing ability had grown stronger, and now only a scar remained, looking like it had healed many days ago.

She put on her trademark fake smile, appearing innocent and adorable.

The Female Doctor held Ning Yu's small hand and said seriously:

"Little sister, you don't need to be afraid. Tell sister honestly, have you been abused?"

Her expression was genuinely serious and full of concern.

From her tone, it seemed there had probably been some bad cases before.

Ning Yu hadn't expected this misunderstanding.

Perhaps the cut on her hand had been too large and too straight, revealing it was intentional.

She stepped back two paces, then took out her dagger from her bag to show the Female Doctor:

"Don't worry, sister. Anyone who dares to bully me, I'll stab them to death."

The silver-haired little girl smiled sweetly, looking harmless, yet emanating a cold killing intent.

"Oh... that's good then. Little sister, please don't use weapons carelessly here."

The Female Doctor realized she had misunderstood:

This wasn't some weak, pitiful girl who could be easily bullied.

Instead, she seemed rather frightening.....
