Can Even the Evil God Be Conquered

In the midst of the mist, Luo Wei tightly gripped the Crimson Blade, following the trail of blood left by Laure.

"Over here!" Evelyn's voice came from not far away.

Though they had shaken off Helena, her tentacles had left several piercing wounds on Luo Wei's body. As a member of the Vampire Clan, Evelyn was naturally highly sensitive to the scent of blood.

In [Team Mode], the markers of the three were shared, so after breaking through the mist of the square, Luo Wei quickly caught up with Laure, the knight who was trying to escape.

"I'll kill you!!" A voice filled with malice suddenly echoed through the air.

A chilling killing intent rushed toward Luo Wei, who instinctively dodged to the side. In the next second, a standard-issue knight's longsword slashed through the air.

Luo Wei countered with his blade, but the force of the strike nearly shattered the Crimson Blade in his hand. The sharp sword aura grazed his neck, sending a cold sweat down his spine.

Fortunately, Helena and Evelyn arrived just in time to provide support. Tentacles instantly wrapped around Laure's ankles, and a massive blood-red scythe descended from the sky.

With a flash of crimson, Evelyn's strike was both powerful and precise. The scythe cleaved Laure's body cleanly in two.

Evelyn's feet gently touched the ground as she frowned at the mangled corpse on the floor.

"That's it?"

"Be careful!" Luo Wei stared intently at the body on the ground, instinctively pulling Helena back.

He noticed the corpse trembling slightly, and from the bloody cross-section, a wisp of dark light suddenly emerged.

"You can still play dead?" Evelyn sneered, swinging her blood-red scythe once more at the remains.

But this strike had no effect. The corpse suddenly exploded, and a shapeless black creature emerged from Laure's body, effortlessly deflecting Evelyn's scythe.

"What is that thing!?" Agents from the Special Affairs Department had already surrounded the area and opened fire on the bizarre black creature.

However, the large-caliber alchemical bullets merely sank into the creature's gelatinous form, creating ripples as if hitting soft jelly. It was completely unfazed.

Under the stunned gazes of the crowd, the black creature grew increasingly grotesque. It began to flow and gradually sprouted tentacles, limbs, and a head-like organ. This amorphous black silhouette didn't retaliate but instead charged through the intense barrage of fire, heading straight for the mist outside.

"Don't let it get away!" Luo Wei shouted. They absolutely could not let it summon the evil god again.

The entire spectacle in the square had been a ruse, orchestrated by Ophelia to deceive the mastermind behind the scenes.

There was no second prince, no city defense army, and no explosives that had been cleared. If the creature discovered this and escaped into the city's lower districts, chaos would surely reign again, fulfilling the conditions for summoning the evil god once more.

The chase continued, and the firepower outside the square intensified.

A member of the Special Affairs Department roared and leaped into the air, transforming into a small giant mid-flight. His massive foot came crashing down on the black creature.

The agent intended to crush the mysterious being, but instead, the black entity swiftly burrowed into his body. The giant's muscles began to convulse violently, and with a painful howl, his enormous body exploded, splattering blood and gore all over the onlookers.

As the black creature fled toward the buildings outside the square, Luo Wei quickly glanced upward.

Hidden in the shadows, Ophelia immediately took action. The streets before the black creature suddenly became barren, with all structures suitable for hiding vanishing into thin air. It was as if the creature had hit an invisible wall, forcing it back into the ruined square.

"The Dreamscape's range is limited. Ophelia's power grows unstable the further out we go!" Luo Wei urgently turned to Evelyn and Helena. "We have to kill that thing before it escapes!"

The black creature's speed began to slow, thanks to Ophelia's influence. Rubble and debris floated into the air, as if gravity had momentarily ceased to exist.

Cornered, the black creature writhed violently, sprouting a human-like mouth. It let out a deafening roar, filled with frustration and desperation.

Luo Wei couldn't understand what it was shouting. The language was alien, harsh and grating, filled with urgency and fury.

The sound reverberated throughout the ruined square and beyond.

Every human in the area instinctively covered their ears. The noise was like a mental assault, causing many agents to tremble uncontrollably. Luo Wei noticed that even Helena and Evelyn were shaking violently.

"Don't let it succeed!"

With the supernatural beings on the verge of madness, Luo Wei clenched his teeth and charged forward, enduring the mental onslaught.

The creature clearly believed it had no escape and was determined to summon the evil god, creating chaos one last time.

But this time, Fred acted first.

Luo Wei barely saw how Fred cast his spell. It seemed instantaneous. A deafening explosion erupted in the air, like a thunderclap, piercing everyone's ears and finally silencing the mind-polluting noise.

The black gelatinous creature shattered into countless pieces, its foul-smelling liquid splattering in all directions.

After this strike, all the agents present let out a collective sigh of relief, nearly collapsing to the ground.

"Brother..." Helena clutched her forehead in discomfort, gazing at Fred in awe. "That guy... he's incredible..."

Evelyn, who had also recovered, chuckled. "Well, he is a supernatural being who's lived sixty years without going insane. Of course, he's impressive."

Luo Wei frowned as he stared at the pools of black liquid on the ground, still on high alert.

The slowly writhing black liquid still seemed alive, and he feared the creature might revive.

But thankfully, the Dreamscape's power altered the landscape once more. The square expanded further, and all potential hiding spots were flattened. Even the manhole covers that the black liquid could have used to escape vanished completely.

Ophelia had completely sealed off the creature's escape routes.

"Well done!"

Luo Wei couldn't help but glance toward a distant building, where Ophelia was hiding.

With Ophelia's assistance, the agents finally managed to clean up the last drop of black liquid. The troublesome "black eel" had lost all signs of life.

A wave of excited cheers erupted from the crowd.

Luo Wei let out a sigh of relief, but he wasn't in the mood to celebrate. Instead, he quietly made his way to the building where Ophelia was stationed.

His thoughts drifted back to that day at the manor. He knew Ophelia must have reached her limit. She had never before exerted such a vast Dreamscape, and he couldn't help but worry.

As he thought this, the surroundings began to distort, overlap, and fade...

Finally, everything returned to the original buildings of the lower district.

Ignoring the chaotic and bewildered crowd, Luo Wei entered the building and climbed to the rooftop.

From a distance, he could see Ophelia collapsed at the edge of the roof.

"She really pushed herself to the limit..." Luo Wei muttered with a bitter smile, walking over and gently picking up Ophelia's body.

Just as he was about to leave...

A little girl's giggle suddenly rang out.

The sound was so close that Luo Wei felt his blood run cold.

He spun around and saw a dark-skinned little girl sitting on the edge of the roof, her bare feet playfully swinging back and forth.

"You—!?"

Luo Wei's mouth hung open as he stared at the girl in shock.

Why was she still here? Hadn't everything been resolved?

Had the black creature's final summoning still succeeded? Were the conditions for the evil god's descent still met?

Had all his efforts been in vain?

Luo Wei couldn't fathom his emotions at that moment, especially when the little girl's gaze slowly turned toward him.

The moment the affection prompt popped up, Luo Wei couldn’t believe his eyes.

Holy crap!

Can even an evil god be romanced??

For a moment, Luo Wei thought he had lost his mind and was hallucinating...

The dark-skinned little girl stared at Luo Wei, who was frozen in place, blinking her eyes before tilting her head curiously.

She seemed utterly fascinated by the human in front of her.
