Staring at the silent, motionless Tilis, Luo Wei didn't know how to describe his feelings.
He reached out to touch Tilis's withered corpse, but his hand trembled halfway and drew back.
His gaze wandered, searching, and he spotted Tilis's spirit form.
Once supposed to be indestructible, the spirit form had now become a dim, faint light, so weak that it was almost imperceptible.
Luo Wei tried to call out to her, but he felt no emotion, no presence that could be called a "soul."
This Tilis was as good as dead.
Luo Wei slumped to the ground, powerless. Now he understood why no matter what, he couldn't change Tilis's stubborn mind.
Because Tilis had lived for that very idea.
The plan itself had become the most important, most anticipated thing in her life, the sole goal she burned her life for.
And he had mercilessly crushed it.
After ruthlessly puncturing all her fantasies, Tilis had lost even the desire to live.
Tilis had been driven to death by him.
Never had Luo Wei felt so powerless before. Even now, he felt like giving up.
No matter how hard he tried to persuade her, it was all in vain... How could humans have such a relentless obsession? Tilis was almost driving him crazy...
“Brother... Miss Witch...” Helena was utterly clueless about everything. She looked blankly at Tilis's corpse, then at Luo Wei, completely unsure of what to say.
"Helena..." Luo Wei forced a bitter smile. "Have you ever had a dream? Something that... no matter what, even if it costs your life, you must achieve?"
"A dream?" Helena shook her head. "I don't know. But if there's something I must achieve no matter what the cost..."
She looked at Luo Wei, slumped on the ground, and the azure eyes that resembled the ocean brimmed with a smile.
"Then it must be to stay with brother forever!"
"What if I tried to change that?" Luo Wei immediately asked.
Helena's face tensed up instantly. "Brother, are you leaving me?!"
She rushed over anxiously, her face showing a murderous fury. "I won't let you do that! I've finally waited for you to come back! Brother mustn't leave! Or else, I'll, I'll..."
Luo Wei couldn't help but chuckle, quickly soothing her.
"Don't worry, brother won't leave you. I was just making an analogy..."
Because he wanted to change Tilis's mind, but it seemed like an impossible task...
Luo Wei tugged at his hair in frustration, just as Tilis had done earlier. He was so anxious that he almost pulled his scalp off.
"Brother, stop doing that. What's wrong with you..." Helena anxiously grabbed Luo Wei's hand, not wanting her brother to go bald.
"How to change..."
"Just how do I change it!!!"
Luo Wei was on the verge of breaking down.
"Brother! What are you trying to change? What is it?" Helena grew increasingly frightened. She had never seen her brother in such a terrifying state.
Normally, no matter the predicament, brother would always find a way. He would call her over casually, say something inexplicable, and then the world would be effortlessly saved, just like during the Saint Callen incident not long ago...
"Brother!" Helena hugged Luo Wei's arm in fear, worried he might continue hurting himself, so she tightened her tentacle-like limbs around him.
"Stop this, what are you trying to change? What is it??"
"Since you're feeling so bad, why not just stop trying to change it? Brother! Don't keep doing this!!"
Luo Wei suddenly looked up.
"What did you say!?" His eyes turned crimson as he stared at Helena.
Helena was scared and took a step back.
"Did I say something wrong... I'm sorry, brother..."
"You didn't say anything wrong! You didn't!" Luo Wei seized her hand joyfully, "Say it again, repeat what you just said!"
"Eh?" Helena was taken aback.
"What I just said, what I just said..." She opened her mouth, looking confused. "Brother, don't keep doing this..."
"Not that one! The previous one!" Luo Wei roared.
Helena's wrist ached from his grip. Seeing Luo Wei in such a frenzied state, she felt like she was going crazy too.
"The previous one, the previous one..." Helena said fearfully, "Why not just stop trying to change it?"
Luo Wei's eyes lit up instantly.
"Stop trying to change..."
"Stop trying to change it!!!"
He was like someone who had been awakened by a revelation, his excitement almost making him jump up.
Yes! With Tilis being as stubborn as a weight, was there any point in persuading her?
"There's no point! Absolutely no point! That damn woman is driving me crazy, hahaha!"
"I won't try to change her anymore! There's no reason to change her at all!"
"I'll create a beautiful new world with her!!"
Helena felt her brother had truly gone mad.
He alternated between ecstatic laughter and frowning in deep thought, muttering to himself incessantly. He was scarier than even those deranged practitioners they had encountered before...
Maybe after returning, they should send brother back to Bedlam Mental Hospital for a check-up again.
Helena nodded silently to herself; she would visit him regularly.
It seemed the hospital's director had some connection with the white-haired bad woman too?
Hmm... Under such circumstances, maybe she had to set aside her dislike for that woman and plea sincerely...
"Brother..." Thinking this, Helena stepped forward and took Luo Wei's hand.
"Let's go~"
"Go? Where to?" Luo Wei looked at her.
"To the doctor, brother. You've gone mad." Helena said, her face serious.
"Me? Mad? Don't be absurd. I didn't lose my sanity. I could never go mad. Not me, it's everyone else who is mad!"
The delighted laughter of Luo Wei was answered by Helena silently looking at him, her conviction only growing.
Affirming in her mind, brother absolutely had gone insane.
As the two examined one person laughing, the other silent, the loud booming sound echoed through the exterior of the laboratory.
This perturbed Luo Wei's thoughts momentarily, and he turned to see.
In the recent torrent of tumultuous magic, everyone had perished except for himself and Helena, and additionally...
The Guild Leader had survived by fleeing immediately.
Now this sly creature was quietly uncovering its sinister return in unnoticed.
