After Evelyn finished speaking, her gaze remained fixed on Luo Wei.
In the dark alley, the last trace of hazy moonlight gradually disappeared.
Everything fell into absolute silence.
Luo Wei smiled at Evelyn, "So what will teacher do to me next?"
Evelyn looked at him with confusion, "Little Wei? What are you talking about? Teacher doesn't understand."
Luo Wei shook his head and chuckled, "Teacher, you're quite the actress, almost as good as me."
This was genuine praise, as Luo Wei's acting skills, honed between life and death, might have earned him an Oscar if he had gone into entertainment.
He stared intently into Evelyn's eyes and continued his analysis.
"Since that time you led me to your office, you've been trying every way to get me to your home, even using this so-called cult as an excuse, and making such a show of pulling out all those old newspapers..."
"Teacher, please don't take me for a fool," Luo Wei said with a smile. "There are indeed many cults beneath Saint Callen, but they specialize in ritual murders. How could they possibly target students from Callen University, such a famous institution? Wouldn't they be asking to get caught?"
"I... I understand..." Evelyn gazed at Luo Wei from a distance, her tone becoming somewhat dejected.
"So, you've been suspecting me all along?"
"You think I'm the culprit behind the disappearances?"
Her eyes grew moist, her voice choked, and combined with her beautiful face, her hurt and disappointed expression was truly pitiful.
"Teacher is so disappointed... Little Wei, how could you think this way about me? After I risked everything to save you..."
"Teacher Evelyn..." Luo Wei's gaze was complex.
He was certainly grateful to Teacher Evelyn, grateful for her willingness to help him against Helena even at the cost of her "open-mindedness (physically)."
But... what if these actions weren't pure and had other motives?
Seeing Luo Wei's hesitant expression, Evelyn quickly added:
"Also, Little Wei, have you forgotten what happened that night?"
"I was at your house, knocked unconscious by your monster sister, and when I woke up, it went on until late into the night, causing such a commotion!"
"I have an alibi. When that girl disappeared, I wasn't anywhere near the school."
"So how could I possibly have done it?"
Luo Wei watched her continued resistance and shook his head with a bitter smile.
"Because that was your purpose all along."
"Your home visit was just to create an alibi, and indeed it worked. After we corroborated each other's stories, you quickly cleared your name with Captain Raymond."
"But no matter what, you hadn't anticipated that home visit would exceed your expectations..."
"You were forced to reveal your abilities and your identity as a different species."
Luo Wei thought with resignation.
Indeed... perhaps kind and caring beautiful teachers only exist in fantasy...
Listening to Luo Wei's explanation, Evelyn's gaze showed ultimate disappointment.
"Our little detective, can all your deductions only be built on assumptions? You still can't prove I was actually there when the disappearance occurred."
Luo Wei shook his head, "I'll be able to prove it soon."
"What?"
Luo Wei's hand slowly reached for his backpack, but his expression remained neutral. "Don't try to fool me, teacher..."
"You might fool ordinary people, but I deal with different species all the time. Let me think, what exactly are you?"
"A shapeshifting demon? A ghoul? A night fiend?"
"Hmm... none of those quite fit. You have the ability to create duplicates, or perhaps command lesser evil creatures. Let me think further..."
"Weapons made of blood, blood magic?"
Luo Wei's smile showed certainty as his hand reached into his backpack.
"You're a vampire, and not just any vampire – a noble one."
Evelyn furrowed her brows, her previously disappointed and hurt expression finally showing a different change.
"Teacher, am I right?"
Luo Wei kept his eyes fixed on the person before him, his hand finally touching the revolver in his backpack.
"Oh, Little Wei..."
Suddenly, Evelyn slowly curved her lips into a smile.
Her eyes danced with strange emotions.
"Little Wei is so clever, teacher likes you more and more~"
"From the first moment I saw you, teacher had her eye on you, and after you showed me that smile..."
Evelyn laughed with excitement.
"Teacher became completely captivated. How could there be such a beautiful boy who matches my fantasies so perfectly? I..."
Her whole body trembled, the fire in her gaze seeming as if it would consume Luo Wei.
"Will make you mine!!"
As she finished speaking, a heavy smell of blood suddenly erupted in the narrow alley.
Her figure vanished in an instant, a red shadow quick as lightning.
The bullet hit the wall behind where she had been, creating a spray of sparks before ricocheting away.
Luo Wei's revolver had missed.
He gripped the gun tightly, eyes scanning the darkness of the alley, finger poised on the trigger, ready to fire at any moment.
Evelyn's voice came from the depths of darkness.
She giggled, "You didn't really think you could kill me with something like that, did you?"
Luo Wei maintained his composure and let out a small laugh.
"Teacher, times have changed."
"Hah! Foolish."
As the words fell, a strange sound suddenly came from behind Luo Wei.
The hazy moonlight emerged again from behind the clouds, and from the corner of his eye, Luo Wei caught sight of a thin, pitch-black shadow looming over him on the right wall. Its claws were beast-like, seemingly capable of tearing his body apart in an instant.
Luo Wei turned decisively, firing immediately.
The gunpowder exploded, and the silver bullet gleamed with a mysterious light.
The thing behind him let out a piercing shriek when hit.
Luo Wei finally saw clearly what it was.
It had a humanoid appearance but was completely black, like a charred corpse, and its body was shrouded in strange bloody mist.
After being shot in the head by Luo Wei, it opened its mouth grotesquely, revealing numerous sharp, tiny teeth. The bullet hole in its forehead began to sizzle and dissolve, emitting a burnt smell.
[Mithril Bullet]
[Forged from mithril, carved with anti-demon runes, has special suppressing effects against vampires and werewolves (effect decreases according to target's level)]
This was the gift he had specially prepared for Teacher Evelyn.
Since realizing she might be a vampire, the [Mithril Bullet] had found its use, with the first shot being used on her "blood servant."
Blood servant, as the name suggests, was a vampire's servant. Vampires could transform humans into this state through certain means. Presumably, this was how Evelyn had created her perfect alibi, by having these creatures act in her stead.
The blood servant continued to howl as the burning wound spread, until half its head appeared charred, before finally falling rigid like a corpse.
