Luo Wei observed this fellow who called himself a "Monster Hunter."
He was very tall, nearly two meters, wearing a gray wool coat, with a smile that exuded extreme confidence.
Though he was always smiling, one look told you he wasn't someone to be trifled with.
"Hello, Gera... uh, Mr. Monster Hunter." Luo Wei politely shook his hand.
Gerald's grip was powerful, and Luo Wei had to look up at him, feeling the man was as robust as a bear.
"Raymond has told me about your situation. Your teacher, based on your description, should be a vampire noble, ranking somewhere between a Vampire Baron and Vampire Viscount."
Luo Wei nodded. He'd heard about vampire rankings before, but what he cared most about was whether these two could deal with Evelyn.
Seeming to notice the concern in his eyes, Gerald smiled and patted what looked like a violin case at his feet.
Inside must have been a very long weapon, and by the looks of it, Gerald was quite confident in this weapon of his.
"No need to worry, kid. I've killed more vampires than I can count."
"A mere Vampire Baron, not even one of their high nobles, isn't that tricky. Rest assured."
His smile was rugged, seemingly trying to comfort the worried Luo Wei, but after hearing his rather arrogant words...
Luo Wei became even more worried...
What's with this? Setting up a death flag right from the start - in movies, characters like this usually don't survive past five minutes...
Luo Wei looked uncertainly at Chief Raymond, blinking his eyes as if to say:
'Are you sure about these two you found?'
Chief Raymond blinked back knowingly, as if able to communicate with Luo Wei through some internal channel.
'They're experts, don't worry!'
Luo Wei skeptically shifted his gaze to the other person.
This mysterious man nicknamed "Wizard" was small in stature, wore a hood, and had most of his face hidden in darkness, his eyes not visible.
Luo Wei had dealt with many evil things, and just one look told him this person emanated an aura of danger.
He sat quietly in the corner, not speaking, appearing more reliable than Gerald.
Luo Wei's tense heart finally relaxed a bit. Though he didn't yet know these two agents' capabilities, they must be powerful individuals with supernatural abilities.
Two against one, the advantage was theirs...
Perhaps.
After bidding them farewell, Luo Wei returned to the school entrance and waited quietly.
At dismissal time, many students poured out of the school gates, and Luo Wei saw Evelyn waving to him in the crowd.
Putting on a fake smile again, Luo Wei joined her as they once more boarded the commuter bus heading to the lower city.
...
"Little Wei, hurry up, we're almost there."
At eight in the evening, the narrow sky above was pitch black.
It was that familiar alley again, seeming endless.
Noticing Luo Wei lagging far behind, Evelyn urged him on like last time.
"I know..."
Despite saying this, Luo Wei's pace remained unhurried.
It was quite challenging to maintain a safe distance from Evelyn without arousing her suspicion...
"You're a boy, how can you be so weak?"
Evelyn's tone began to show impatience as she kept looking back at Luo Wei.
"This is usually when cult groups gather. If you don't hurry up, we won't catch them tonight!"
"Hurry up!"
Luo Wei looked at her resentfully, thinking to himself that she wasn't really rushing to catch cult members... she was rushing him into her trap...
"Hmph, so slow..." Evelyn muttered to herself.
"Good looking, good in every way, just too physically weak, really..."
"But weak is fine, once everything is over, it won't matter..."
Of course, she didn't let Luo Wei hear these last two sentences.
To avoid arousing suspicion from the increasingly impatient Evelyn, Luo Wei had to force himself to close some of the distance.
As he walked, he casually observed his surroundings, wondering how he would escape when the fighting started...
Getting himself caught would really defeat the purpose...
Moreover, he still didn't know Evelyn's true objective. Why go to such elaborate lengths to lure him here...
It wasn't simply about killing him; there must be some other purpose.
But if everything went according to plan, he probably wouldn't find out...
The two continued through the dark alley, one in front of the other.
When they reached a section flanked by tall abandoned factories, Luo Wei stopped, noticing a tiny red light flickering on a factory rooftop in the distance.
There was also a faint smell of smoke.
"Who's there?" Evelyn coldly looked up.
The air fell silent.
Luo Wei glanced at that position, where someone stood quietly smoking, as if having waited for them for a long time.
Blood energy spread from Evelyn's hand, about to condense into a crimson blade.
"Who is it? Stop hiding up there playing tricks, I—"
She didn't finish her sentence.
A deafening gunshot answered her.
Evelyn's figure instantly vanished, leaving a crater the size of a bowl where she had just been standing. The massive kinetic energy had nearly blown through the entire side of the alley's building.
The blood shadow moved quick as lightning, soon appearing five meters away, with Evelyn coldly staring at the direction of the shot.
Under the hazy moonlight, on the abandoned factory roof, Gerald had a half-burned cigarette in his mouth as he smiled down at the two below.
"Hmm, very fast indeed, and quite skilled with blood magic..."
"Should be at the level of a Vampire Viscount."
He held an absurdly long lever-action rifle, looking down like a hawk eyeing its prey, watching where the blood shadow would appear next.
"Hmph, hunter." Evelyn sneered, her figure leaping instantly.
The jump was three meters high, her toes lightly touching the eaves as blood magic condensed again.
Faced with the vampire's sudden approach, Gerald remained calm, quickly working the lever to feed ammunition.
The special bullets were two sizes larger than Luo Wei's [Mithril Bullets], and his weapon had a larger caliber.
As Evelyn rapidly closed in, his hands moved almost too fast to see, unleashing an extremely powerful barrage of fire where the blood shadow passed. The gunshots were so loud they made Luo Wei's ears ring.
The air carried Evelyn's frustrated angry voice as several bullets nearly grazed her body, leaving terrible burn marks on her skin.
The hunter named Gerald seemed to see through Evelyn's teleportation tricks, with bullets whistling past every time she briefly paused, each shot nearly hitting its mark.
The scene made Luo Wei, hiding in a dark corner, click his tongue in admiration.
Indeed... caliber is justice, firepower is truth.
The weapon's power made Luo Wei quite envious - what man doesn't love guns? He was even thinking about getting one himself...
Of course, that was just a thought; escaping with his life was the priority now.
While the two were engaged in combat high above, Luo Wei quietly slipped away into the factory complex.
He happened to run into Chief Raymond and his young assistant, who were watching the battle from the third floor.
"Finally, this case that's been troubling me for half a month can be closed..."
Chief Raymond patted Luo Wei's shoulder, "Thanks to your information. After we wrap this up, I'll get a good sleep, then treat you to a meal."
"This legendary most fearsome creature isn't so tough after all..." Officer Leon remarked, also relieved seeing the woman at a clear disadvantage.
Luo Wei looked at them helplessly, thinking it couldn't be that simple - he knew just how formidable Teacher Evelyn was.
"I wouldn't be so sure..." he said.
"You're just too nervous." Captain Raymond reassured him, "Gerald is a senior agent from the Special Affairs Department who has hunted down countless dangerous aberrants. Besides, don't forget that our other friend hasn't made their appearance yet."
"Let's wait and see..." Luo Wei didn't finish his sentence, as he felt these two police officers were celebrating too early...
"I don't think we need to!" Officer Leon said with a smile: "Look, that vampire won't even get a chance to resist..."
He hadn't finished speaking.
All three people in the factory simultaneously felt a wave of discomfort in their bodies.
"Why do I feel... like the strength in my hands is fading away..." Officer Leon wondered as he clenched and unclenched his fist.
Luo Wei also felt the life force within his body slowly and subtly draining away.
"Not good!"
He suddenly remembered an ability that Evelyn had used back at the old mansion.
"Wait! Look up there!" Officer Leon exclaimed in surprise.
The three of them witnessed a shocking scene.
They saw Evelyn, who had been continuously jumping and dodging across the rooftops, suddenly become enveloped by a thick blood-colored mist. The mist spread rapidly like smog, blocking out the sky and drastically reducing visibility in the night, while concealing her swiftly approaching figure.
Gerald momentarily lost track of his target. He frowned as he looked toward the blood mist advancing toward him.
Suddenly, the blood mist dispersed and condensed into countless blood-colored arrows.
Evelyn's figure appeared like a specter, and she smiled coldly as she snapped her fingers.
Those blood arrows, covering the sky like a rain of blood, shot toward Gerald's direction in an overwhelming barrage.
Gerald's eyes widened in shock.
