Gu Lingfei!
A distant cousin of mine, though the blood relation is so thin it’s practically negligible.
She’s probably a destined female protagonist, given the "beautiful CEO" trope... you know how it goes.
"Shh... someone’s calling."
Jiang Che gestured to Yu Wan'er to keep quiet.
Then he answered the phone.
"Xiao Che, why did it take you so long to answer?"
The voice on the other end carried a hint of reproach.
"Feifei, what’s up?"
"Oh... didn’t your parents mention it? I’ve returned to the country. Can you pick me up from the airport?"
Jiang Che chuckled. You think I’ll just drop everything and go pick you up in the middle of the night?
Who do you think you are?
"Sorry, Feifei, I’m at home sleeping. How about this... I’ll send someone to pick you up."
Gu Lingfei fell silent for a moment, then teased, "What’s going on, Xiao Che? Don’t tell me you’ve got a girlfriend now and forgotten about your old sister?"
You have to admit, a woman’s intuition can be scarily accurate.
"Alright, alright, I’ll just take a cab. But I don’t have a place to stay... can you tidy up that room at the Jiang Family house for me?"
Gu Lingfei’s words left Jiang Che speechless. He glanced down at Yu Wan'er beside him.
Well... this is awkward.
"But Feifei, don’t take a cab. I’ll send a driver to pick you up."
Gu Lingfei was likely a destined female protagonist—just returned to the country + taking a cab alone—buff stacked to the max. There’s no telling if some "chosen one" might pop up.
Jiang Che had to prevent that possibility at all costs!
"Fine, I’ll leave it to you."
After hanging up, Yu Wan'er looked at Jiang Che in confusion.
She was wearing a brown bear-patterned pajama set, her hair disheveled, her expression slightly anxious.
"Jiang Che... is someone coming over?"
Jiang Che had put the call on speaker, so she’d heard everything. The voice on the other end sounded like a mature woman.
"Yeah, but you don’t need to worry about it."
Jiang Che couldn’t be bothered to explain further. He didn’t know who bought Yu Wan'er this bear pajama set, but it was a perfect match for her petite frame, utterly adorable.
......
Hangcheng Airport.
Gu Lingfei, who had just gotten off the plane, was sitting in the VIP lounge sipping coffee.
Her stunning face was cold as ice, exuding an aura that kept others at bay.
Yet, the corner of her lips betrayed a faint, almost imperceptible smile.
"It’s been seven or eight years, and Xiao Che has grown distant."
Gu Lingfei had grown up in the Jiang Family. She was five or six years older than Jiang Che and had always doted on her younger brother. However, she had gone abroad for studies and, over the years, had successfully built her own career.
As Gu Lingfei was lost in thought, a portly, bald man in a suit approached her, his gaze lecherous.
But before he could get close, several men in black suits stepped in front of Gu Lingfei.
"Miss Gu, I’m Jiang Che’s driver. He’s busy, so I’m here to take you back."
Gu Lingfei nodded slowly, then stood up and left.
Before leaving, the driver and the bodyguards shot a cold glance at the bald man, who clenched his fists, his expression darkening.
He had hoped to get closer to her.
Not long after Gu Lingfei left, a young man rushed into the VIP lounge.
"Feifei... Feifei, where are you?"
Su Han scanned the room but didn’t see Gu Lingfei. Instead, he spotted a fat, greasy man. For some reason, he felt an intense dislike for the guy, as if he wanted to punch him in the face.
And that’s exactly what he did.
He stormed over to the man, pinning him down with one hand. "Did you see a beautiful woman?"
Su Han, the super soldier king of the Wolf King Mercenary Group, had taken many lives and was a master of internal martial arts. He nearly scared the fat man to death.
"I... I don’t know!"
"Useless!"
Su Han proceeded to beat the man mercilessly.
The fat man cried, "I’ve done nothing to you! Why are you hitting me?"
Su Han: "..."
Why was he hitting him? Su Han couldn’t quite explain it.
"You deserved it!"
"..."
Clearly, Jiang Che had been right. If he hadn’t sent someone to pick up Gu Lingfei, the fat man would have harassed her, giving Su Han the perfect opportunity to show off.
But now... that scenario was impossible.
After beating up the fat man, Su Han left the VIP lounge and made a call.
"Monkey, did you find out where Feifei’s company is located?"
Since the Wolf King had returned to the country, he naturally brought along his trusted brothers from the mercenary group.
There was always a hacker!
A money manager, and, of course, a beautiful woman secretly in love with the Wolf King.
Everything was set up to make the Wolf King look good!
"Wolf King..."
Su Han cut Monkey off. "Now that I’m back, don’t call me by my title. Just call me Boss."
"Boss, Gu Lingfei..."
Monkey had barely started speaking when Su Han interrupted again.
Su Han said coldly, "You dare call her by her name? Call her Sister-in-law!"
Monkey: "..."
"Sister-in-law’s headquarters recently moved to Hangcheng. From what I know, she has connections with the Jiang Family there."
Su Han fell silent for a moment. "I need to find a way to get close to Feifei, so she’ll fall in love with me. Monkey... think of a way for me to get close to her."
Monkey was silent again. For some reason, the usually decisive Wolf King seemed to have lost his mind lately.
But Su Han’s words reminded Monkey of a novel he’d been reading recently, *The Wolf King Bodyguard of the Female CEO*.
"Ahem... Boss, I think you could become a security guard at Sister-in-law’s company. Start from the bottom and gradually win her heart."
Su Han’s eyes lit up. The keyword "security guard" had triggered something in him.
"Monkey, arrange it for me."
"Boss, about the investigation into the Su Family massacre from over a decade ago... I’ve made some progress..."
"Monkey, I’m a bit tired lately. Let’s talk about the Su Family matter another time."
Monkey: "..."
He had never been so exasperated in his life. What "returning to the country to investigate the Su Family massacre"?
It was clearly just an excuse to chase women!
But he only dared to think it, never saying it out loud in front of Su Han.
After all... the name "Iron-faced Wolf King" wasn’t just for show.
