[The story of Medicine King Valley isn't over just yet. How could it be?]
[Situ Ye and I were just messing around. Our little skirmish had no impact on Medicine King Valley at all.]
[You see, no matter how powerful the factions are in the story, Lin Xuan always makes sure to stir up some trouble. It might not lead to total annihilation, but there’s always a crisis. And Medicine King Valley is no exception.]
[The real crisis this time is the Sacred Beast, the Devastating Tiger.]
[Someone stole the Devastating Tiger’s egg and was seriously injured while fleeing to Medicine King Valley. But the thief was so badly hurt that they didn’t even notice the egg had fallen off when they lost consciousness.]
[The egg went missing, and then, unexpectedly, the small Devastating Tiger hatched on its own.]
[But as soon as it emerged, there were some minor abnormalities. Naturally, the people in Medicine King Valley assumed it was a valuable treasure, which led to a massive chase for the small Devastating Tiger.]
The newly born little Devastating Tiger had never seen such chaos before. The greed-filled (greedy) stares of the pursuers terrified it, and it started to flee desperately.
[Lin Xuan, however, was different. He wasn’t interested in the little Devastating Tiger at all. He just wanted to live his own life without interference.]
[After effortlessly shaking off the crowd chasing it, the little Devastating Tiger crossed paths with Lin Xuan. To its surprise, Lin Xuan showed no interest in it, his gaze clear and indifferent.]
[This immediately piqued the little Devastating Tiger’s interest. This person was different from those "desperate vixens" chasing it. His calm demeanor intrigued the young beast.]
[Lin Xuan had successfully caught its attention. It cautiously approached him.]
[As expected, Lin Xuan and the little Devastating Tiger had a simple encounter. The little Tiger found Lin Xuan quite likable and decided it wanted to follow him.]
[Meanwhile, Situ Ye caught up and saw the Devastating Tiger by Lin Xuan’s side. His greed was unmistakable, and he naturally wanted to take it for himself.]
[Lin Xuan refused, leading to a brutal fight with Situ Ye. Naturally, this wasn’t one-sided—Lin Xuan didn't overpower Situ Ye completely. After all, Situ Ye was one of the Heavenly Demon Seven, and he had quite a few tricks up his sleeve.]
[In fact, Situ Ye managed to injure Lin Xuan as well. Seeing Lin Xuan fight so fiercely for its sake, the little Devastating Tiger was moved and decided to help Lin Xuan in the battle.]
[After the fight, Lin Xuan also started to develop an interest in the little beast. He realized this little guy wasn’t half bad.]
[The bond between them deepened... No, that’s not the right word. It’s more like their "connection" grew stronger. After all, it’s what you’d expect in a story like this.]
[This entire situation was thanks to Situ Ye’s unintentional matchmaking. Not only did he get beaten up, but he also inadvertently forged a bond between Lin Xuan and the little Devastating Tiger. Truly, he deserves a trophy of some kind.]
[In the end, Situ Ye was once again sent running.]
[After an intense battle, the little Devastating Tiger was exhausted and fell asleep, with Lin Xuan taking careful care of it.]
[Then, as fate would have it, the parent Devastating Tiger arrived, along with several of its sacred beast companions, descending upon Medicine King Valley in search of its child.]
[Diplomatic negotiations began. The parent Devastating Tiger confirmed its offspring was in the valley, but the people of Medicine King Valley were unaware of this and denied any knowledge.]
[The Devastating Tiger demanded to search, but Medicine King Valley insisted on first reporting the matter and receiving permission before allowing access. Unable to wait another moment, the Devastating Tiger attacked, leading to an instant clash between the two sides.]
[The Devastating Tiger wasn’t alone; it brought a legion of spiritual beasts with it, charging into battle against Medicine King Valley.]
[The resulting conflict was nothing short of cataclysmic.]
[Lin Xuan was, of course, caught up in this sudden battle.]
[As expected, Lin Xuan stole the show once again, his combat prowess overshadowing all his peers.]
[Seeing this, the parent Devastating Tiger turned its attention to Lin Xuan. Upon closer inspection, it detected its child’s scent on him, suspecting that Lin Xuan had stolen its offspring. The beast glared at Lin Xuan in anger.]
[Its fiery gaze was overwhelming, yet Lin Xuan stood firm. Instead of being intimidated, it ignited his fighting spirit. Clenching his teeth, he held his ground and returned the beast’s intense stare.]
[This act was undoubtedly a direct challenge to the Devastating Tiger. A deafening roar echoed throughout Medicine King Valley.]
[The ground seemed to tremble beneath them.]
[Lin Xuan, however, remained unmoved and stalwart.]
[The Devastating Tiger lunged at Lin Xuan to kill him, but at that moment, the little Devastating Tiger came out and stood in front of Lin Xuan, protecting him.]
[As expected, this led to a reconciliation. Their conflict was resolved.]
[After some dialogue, Lin Xuan officially gained ownership of the little Devastating Tiger.]
Su Luo closed his diary, having completed another entry.
[Diary entry complete. Reward: Constitution +1, Strength +4.]
[Special Ability Upgraded: The Always-Wins Die.]
[Increases the next attack’s power based on the die roll. Die rolls now range from 5–10 instead of 1–6.]
Su Luo examined his rewards, simple and straightforward stat boosts. He was starting to feel like one of those overpowered, stat-bloated characters from gaming forums.
Well, not bad at all.
...
On the other hand, Nangong Xiyun, upon seeing the diary update, was completely dumbfounded.
How did she suddenly get dragged into her own plotline for no reason? Earlier, she was just a minor character who appeared briefly.
Even worse, she had just agreed to accompany Su Luo to Medicine King Valley. Now that her family was supposedly "on fire," could she just leave without raising suspicion?
It seemed possible, but... wouldn't that make Su Luo doubt her?
Nangong Xiyun found herself deep in thought.
Would she need to play dual roles? But she didn’t have any skill in creating illusions or clones; even if she did, they’d probably be so crude that Su Luo would see through them instantly.
This was getting awkward.
However, thinking it through, things weren’t entirely hopeless. There was still a way—just run off during the crucial moments to switch roles.
With her abilities, it should be manageable, right?
Nangong Xiyun wasn’t entirely confident, though. After all, Su Luo’s cultivation wasn’t the highest, but he had a variety of unpredictable methods. An oversight could easily lead to exposure.
She needed to think carefully.
For now, the priority was to send word to the Seven Stars Sword Sect to ensure they arrived as planned.
Since she wasn’t currently at the Seven Stars Sword Sect, there might already be someone taking her place to lead the group. That wouldn’t do—it would deviate from the story, and Su Luo would definitely start asking questions.
"What’s wrong? You look a bit pale," Su Luo asked, having just received the latest diary rewards and feeling quite upbeat.
"I’m fine," Nangong Xiyun replied with a forced smile.
"Haha, don’t look so troubled. Once we reach Medicine King Valley, you’ll be surprised."
She would indeed be surprised—upon encountering the Seven Stars Sword Sect, she could openly convey information to the Heavenly Demon Sect. After all, none of it was particularly sensitive, so it wouldn’t raise any eyebrows.
"I’m already pleasantly surprised."
"What? What did you say?"
"I said I’m looking forward to the surprise you mentioned."
"You will be. So, Nangong Xuyin, follow me—you won’t regret it."
"Of course. I’ve always said that I’m your most loyal subordinate, haven’t I?"
Nangong Xiyun felt that Su Luo was far too laid-back. He didn’t inspire any fear of betrayal because he seemed like he’d crumble on his own anyway. What was the point of deceiving him?
"I know that, and I naturally trust you."
Said no one ever. When you eventually betray me, I’ll reveal that I never trusted you at all. Won’t that shock you? Hahahaha, I can’t wait to see your reaction...
What’s wrong with me? Why am I so eager for this betrayal to happen? Come on, betray me already, Nangong Xuyin, hehehe...
